His minutes likely got cut after the Mizzou loss because Self wanted to get Moore and Griffen going. And it's the right call. Both of those players raise KU's ceiling more than Coit does.randylahey wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 9:39 am I think coit will be fine. He's missing shots, but he's not taking bad shots or forcing it. I don't think it's the competition level making him miss them, because he's mainly taking open shots within the offense

seems like it's not the first time we've seen someone's numbers dip with the start of conference play.

Agree completely. Coit was emergency depth and a late addition. He's a really nice player, but is simply too small to play a big roletwocoach wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 12:23 pmHis minutes likely got cut after the Mizzou loss because Self wanted to get Moore and Griffen going. If Shak or DH goes down, or if Storr keeps sucking, he's capable of filling in those minutes without being a huge negative.
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Coit's minutes will probably depend a lot on match-ups. If we come up against someone playing small ball it might be good to have another ball handler out there. Foul trouble for guards might be another situation that increases his minutes.

Random but impressive stat
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Yessh, just saw this online. These last two years have been the two worst three point shooting teams in Self's time at Kansas.
Lowest 3-point percentages in Kansas history under Bill Self:
2024-25: 33.1%
2023-24: 33.2%
2003-04 (Self's first year in Lawrence): 33.5%
This despite Kansas seemingly able to have the ability to add more experienced, proven players via the transfer portal.
This year, we have zero rotation players shooting at least 37% from three. We seem to get a decent amount of good looks. It's just weird.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
I like how we can still win even if we aren’t tho.
If the last 3 games are any indication…I’d gladly trade winning by holding opponents to 55 or less, if it meant not winning by shooting the lights out, cuz winning is winning.
But if you shoot lights out good chance you’re gonna win anyway.
Tho even playing good d we been playing I dunno how often we’re gonna be able to hold opponents to 55 or less…especially good opponents.
And the way we shoot, and if the last game is any indication, that 55-point threshold might be precarious for us too.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Self fucked this up tonight.
Not nearly enough minutes for Bidunga Griffen or Shak tonight.
Also sat Zeke too much.
There is zero reason Passmore should play in a game like this. Zero reason Coit should play if he's not shooting. And zero reason to play AJ Storr.

Not having a quick point guard means less penetration, less kick outs, less open 3s.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 9:41 pm Yessh, just saw this online. These last two years have been the two worst three point shooting teams in Self's time at Kansas.

His downfall is the desperate delusion that, if he just gives them enough minutes, Harris and Adams and Dickinson will turn into real players.DeletedUser wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 8:23 pm Self fucked this up tonight.

We need them on the floor. We need their shooting.
Shak has earned minutes. He's earned some of dajuans minutes. Those 2 are too similar to play so many minutes together. Griffen needs to start/or play more

All 3 need a minute reduction. Shak is good enough to play more of dajuans minutesJKLivin wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 8:47 pmHis downfall is the desperate delusion that, if he just gives them enough minutes, Harris and Adams and Dickinson will turn into real players.DeletedUser wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 8:23 pm Self fucked this up tonight.

Bidunga is good enough to play more of hunter and KJs minutes
Zeke has become the star of this team and is getting all the minutes he can handle, but Griffen needs to be playing more
Dajuan KJ and hunter will be more productive in their minutes with more rest. And all 3 have proven weaknesses that don't justify playing 30+ when we loaded up on talent

24min went to Coit Storr and Passmore. Those should have gone to Shak and Griffen.
Bidunga played 11min and had 4 fouls. He should have had a few more (before he'd have fouled out).
