This falls apart at "rather than."

It can be true at the same time that (1) the electoral system deserves criticism for rendering certain votes meaningless,* and (2) voters deserve criticism for casting their votes frivolously.

* It is not really accurate to say any vote is meaningless; there is a difference, to me, between 49.9999999999999% and 50.00000000000001%.

Didn’t vote for her because she was the weaker candidate. Thank God and Greyhound she’s gone.

(1) comes across as more of an objective fact. I'll give you that! We agree here! And in light of that, I think the criticism should be directed more toward this, than toward any particular voter.

(2) comes across as nothing more than your own personal opinion...and, once again, a very heavily partisan-intoxicated opinion, at that. And in light of that, I'm not sure how much credit you should be giving yourself as arbiter of which votes count as "frivolous."

But, I get it. Your gripe is apparently against voters who hesitate to play ball within the confines of the electoral system as it works.

So, then, if voters are supposed to make a choice within the confines of the electoral system as it works, then maybe it's time to stop pretending voters have a choice.

No, my gripe is not and has never been “voters who hesitate to play ball within the confines of the electoral system as it works.”

But why stop putting words in my mouth now.

it's not? Nor has it ever been?

I don't mean to put words in your mouth, so forgive me if it seems that way.

But, I seem to very distinctly recall you pressuring me into "if your one vote was the difference between Trump being elected then how would you vote" sorts of hypotheticals.

That sure did make me feel like you were trying to compel me into the confines of the electoral system as it works, rather than just allowing me to cast my vote as freely as I'd like.

And, just this morning, you suggested certain voters cast votes frivolously.

Maybe I should instead just ask, what then did you mean by "frivolously?"

cuz it sure did seem to insinuate something in particular. But again, don't let me put words in your mouth.

You CAN cast your vote as freely as you like.

Including frivolously.

Which you did.

also, fish, you're trying to treat your own opinions as facts again.

Remember when you said that's the stuff of the misinformation thread?

If you want to argue that a knowing vote for a non-viable candidate is NOT frivolous, argue away.

Wut? Now I think you don’t know what that phrase means.

I'm not the one saying the way I choose to vote is frivolous.

but, ok, you're right.

That particular comment was less words in mouths, and more just gaslighting.

now quick, double down on some comment about how you think I don't know what that phrase means...as if that isn't oh so gaslighty in itself!

if we can share opinions, I think the more frivolous approach to voting is your own, apparently cast with regard for little if anything more than partisan allegiance.

I mean, talk about a single-issue voter!

I have taken breaks.

guess that means trad might've saved up a few bucks by now?

I think what you guys want, is for the echo chamber of circle jerkers to be able to take shots as silly as "you vote frivolously!" without permitting response and also acting surprised or even outraged if and when there IS response, while also insisting - quite ironically! - that the real circle jerk is actually just one guy.

Either way, it still kinda makes me wonder if that means overlander finally found my Only Fans.
