I can’t think of the last SF trip I had on which I didn’t manage a meal at Tadich Grill.

We went to TonTon on Geary near Union Square. Tiny place, some sort of crispy rice balls filled with octopus. Fried pork belly in curry. The next day was Hikari Bullet Train Sushi, little miniature trains came out and delivered the food. If you have been to Sushirama in Denver it's kinda like that but funnier. Supposedly there is a robot that delivers beers at Hikari but not that day. Sam's Burgers and Pizza on Broadway was a perfect late night burger. Il Casario Pizza on Columbus and then to Vesuvio Cafe for beers. It's a good thing we did so much walking, it was a lot of food.

Yesterday I was strongly considering coming to KC this weekend.
Go to the KU basketball game Saturday and the Chiefs game Sunday.
Then I priced it out. I basically need to be in the Trump Billionaire Boys Club to do it.

Flight on American = 1623 but I can't fly back non-stop at any time on Monday. Nope.
Flight on SWA = Can't fly non-stop. Nope.
Flight on United = 1071 but I can't fly back until Monday night. Doable.

Any decent hotel = 1000

Car rental = 200
Gas & Parking = 200

KU hoops ticket - anything decent = 350
Chiefs ticket - anything decent = 600

1000 bucks for a hotel?!

one of you KC schmucks let gutter crash on yer futon!

or heck man, if you wanna come to CO just cuz, you're welcome to crash on my futon.

I say "just cuz" cuz I was otherwise gonna suggest catching a game here, but I checked and the Nuggs, Avs, CU, CSU, DU are all on the road this weekend.

If you wanna do women's hoops I guess we could like, catch the Lady Buffs hosting the Lady Kitties?

Or heck, how about a concert...Billy Strings in town!

Or, I also know of a Radio/Rage Against The Machine combo tribute this weekend in Denver too...

I’m on my way to New York. Must be absolutely dead there, as midtown hotels are cheaper for three nights than they often are for one.

I was paying over $5 a gallon in the LA area. I wasn't thinking gas is probably considerably cheaper in Kansas/Missouri. That was VERY dumb of me.
My $200 estimate was based on 40 miles to Lawrence - 2 gallons - $10.
40 miles from Lawrence back to KC - 2 gallons - $10.
Misc driving - 2 gallons - $10

Ok, let's say gas is only $2.50 a gallon. $15 worth of gas.
Parking at Allen - $25?
Parking at Arrowhead - $50?
Misc parking - $20?
Many hotels charge to park overnight. Some A LOT.
Cheap 3 nights - $75 Expensive 3 nights - $150
Tips for hotel and other valet/s - $20 to $30.
So...... $200 might be a low estimate. It might be a high estimate. I'm going with it was a fairly accurate estimate.

High roller....
Hardly.

High Roller would fly private. 20Kish?
High Roller would stay in a presidential suite at a top hotel in KC. Minimum 1.5Kish a night for 3 nights?
High Roller would hire a driver for all travel in KC (and to and from Lawrence) 2Kish?
High Roller would sit courtside in Allen. 2Kish?
High Roller would rent a suite (with food and beverages) at Arrowhead. 30Kish?

TDub just mentioned "water faucets and dials" on the politics forum, and it opened a wound I have been meaning to share here on the travel thread.

On a recent trip to Mexico I shared a large B&B with a group of people, and was fortunate to have my own shower. Six days into the 7-day trip, after complaining every day about there being no hot water, my fellow B&B dwellers were surprised to learn that somehow I hadn't got the memo that the "H" and "C" on the shower faucet handles here do not represent "Hot" and "Cold" like they do back home.

Good to know, even belatedly.

This has become sort of our family dive bar, the Toronado. My brother from another mother, Defix drank there in the 90's. I took up a bar stool when I was working out there 10 years later. And now it is one of my daughter's favorite dive bars. She and I just got a beer there a couple of weeks ago.

That might be me just off the edge of the photo on the right with my cane.

If I god hadn't recently sent me on a divine mission to Colorado, I feel like he might have sent me to SF.

But this really needs someone who will devote another 40 years to keep it going. I'm better suited to a shorter mission.

Fashion question, japhy: Although I don't dislike the shirt you have on in the photo above, have you considered that the yellow accentuates your pastel-pale complexion? Or, is "whitey", the look you were going for?

Just a completely different use case (for me, anyway).
