I removed one and I'm still alive, but when I opened the back on the next MacBook Pro, expecting it to be similar enough that I'd figure out how to remove the drive...long story short, you can't access the drive easily on this 2017 with a Touch Bar, because this one is soldered to the logic board along with the RAM and something else. If I knew what a logic board looked like I might try to remove it and have it destroyed along with the drive, but I'm not there, yet.

Hard to believe what a time sink this has turned into, not to mention having to order the right tiny tools, (I already have numerous small screw driver sets, but Ohhhhhhhhhh Nooooooooo, these screws are really special because of those woke Apple socialists out in Cupertino).

Time to see if I can find out what the logic board looks like and not let a few screws and some paper thin, overpriced metal stand between me and a cure!
Or you could use the BFH method.
I had to look that up, but as it turns out, I have been eyeing my 5# sledge hammer in a way I haven't, in years. I successfully removed 3 out of the 5, but I'm thinking I might put the iPad and 17" laptop in a bag or wrap them in a beach towel, beat the hell out of them on my drive way, then dump the debris in a metal bucket, then put the bucket in my grill and set it all on fire for a while.

Update, I only need to BFH and incinerate an iPad now, because I successfully tore into a 2005(?), 17" MacBook Pro and removed the hard drive. That old laptop must weigh close to 8#. But enough about how I spent nearly my entire day. Let's hear from Quinton, I mean, Quentin, dammit.

Should I know who, what, Orrifi is, because Google thinks I misspelled "orifice".
Back2Lawrence wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 9:14 pm He was being cute and used it as a plural of orifice.

It was in video you posted. Do you watch videos you post? If not, that’s kinda weird.
Yes, I do watch (nearly all) the videos I post, including the one in question. But, admittedly, it's almost never the only thing I'm doing when a video is on.
(Which is not to imply that I believe in the myth of "multitasking", i.e., doing more than one thing at a time.)

In my defense... Perhaps if you hadn't misspelled, there is only one "r" in orifice, and capitalized it, creating the impression it represented a proper noun*, i.e., a person, place, etc., I might not have been led astray?

IMO, the responsibility of communicating rests almost wholly on the back of the person trying to communicate. (It's why I don't bother linking health-related articles from medical journals, and use the MSM instead.)

That being the case, I find your attitude wanting**, and misdirected.

*prop·er noun
/ˈpräpər noun/
noun
a name used for an individual person, place, or organization, spelled with initial capital letters, e.g., Larry, Mexico, and Boston Red Sox.

**want·ing
/ˈwänt(t)iNG/
adjective
lacking in a certain required or necessary quality.
Back2Lawrence wrote: Fri Jan 10, 2025 11:11 am Oh I definitely misspelled that word and didn't notice. My bad there.

I think I've been called out (wanting?) for typos before, and I get the frustration with them and how it led you to not be able to figure out what I was saying. Converseley, though, or(r)ifi would have stood out had you been listening to what you posted and been able to communicate about what you posted, and understood my reference (it wasn't even abstract here).

I do apologize for the mistype I didn't catch. I definitely don't edit much here a lot of the time, especially when typing from my phone. I'll do better there, and own that aspect of this.

I multitask a lot, too. You mention the importance of saying what you mean/intend, and I believe that, without question. Which is what the 'that's weird' referenced. It wasn't a gotcha moment or anything. Lesson learned there. But I stand by my intent and statement.

And again, apologize about 'Orrifi'.
This series of posts was originally a part of the "Chiefs 2024" thread in the Football forum, and I wanted to add to it but didn't feel it was relevant there, so I moved it here so I could fess up because I own part of the blame.

When Eisen originally said "orifi" it caught my ear and I thought it was funny. But when you commented and capitalized and "misspelled" it, (There's no "correct" spelling because it isn't a word. The plural of "orifice" is "orifices".) it threw my little brain completely off. I was immediately in proper noun mode, and even Google assuming I must mean "orifice", didn't lead me back onto the right track.

So, it was primarily the capitalization, but still, I should have figured it out.

This site is very slow for me today, anyone else?

Also, it has logged me out several times, and told me my login info is incorrect, on multiple occasions.

Sorry you are feeling like JUNK!
NyQuil is the "green coma" for most, unfortunately for people such as me, it's the green keep awake.

Perspective....
Just got back from a Target run.
On the way there, woman about my age with a cute dog in the elevator. We exchange verbal pleasantries. We wish each other a nice day as we exit the elevator.
Fast forward, I'm walking out of Target. Woman I would guess in her late 20s early 30s is walking in.
I have seen millions of women in my lifetime. BOTH face and body wise, she was one of the top 5 I have seen. To others, she's probably too thin, too fat, too this, too that. To me, as close to perfection as possible.
She must have noticed that my eyes popped out of my head because she gave me a little smile and walked on. Or maybe she was laughing at me internally and the grin broke out? Whatever.
I'm an idiot but I am smart enough to know she had ZERO interest in me.
While I felt she was perfect in regards to her face and body, I think I was most impressed with the one second of her personality that I witnessed.
Walking back, there was a couple (probably in their late 20s) on the sidewalk who were walking very slowly and I couldn't get by them. I gave them a calm and what I felt was just fine "excuse me" and the woman turned around and gave me a nasty look and they continued to walk at their slow pace.
All that being said and in regards to perspective, it is so easy to be kind/friendly to a "stranger" (I know I put the STRANGE in stranger) and yet a lot of people chose to be assholes/unfriendly to "strangers". I don't get it. Why? Yes, I do get that moods and issues people are dealing with play a role but I have nothing to do with any of that.

For the record, I'm not really expecting any particular response to my post other than maybe a.....
