She said it pretty much shut down the DOD on Friday morning as everyone was asking up and down the chain of command if this was real. Do we have to reply? Is it safe to reply? How did they email 3,000,000 of us simultaneously and get all of these emails into one list?

So pretty much 3,000,000 federal employees in one somewhat important federal department went into a state of panic and shut shit down for over an hour trying to figure out WTF? Remind me, what does DOGE stand for?

Then she wanted to know, how did you hear about this?

So eye roll at your 9 to 5 be in the office doing work the entire time you are there.

Then you also understand that these are accepted conditions of the job when a contract is signed, which is why we don't get paid Overlander bucks. There's also expectation of service to the profession and community, not to mention research, publishing, and presentation expectations. Since I'm an administrator and teach an overload, I have plenty to do. Not complaining, just stating facts.

I'm not complaining. It is my chosen profession. It comes with the territory. It is what I agreed to do when I accepted the job. I knew what I was getting into, and I can choose to get out of it if I can't deal with the expectations.

My point was that many of these Federal employees took these jobs with the understanding that they would work onsite. The Plandemic derailed that for awhile, but, contrary to what many of them are claiming, they don't have a "right" to work from home, especially if their initial job description was not a work-from-home arrangement.

Rights and preferences are not the same thing, contrary to popular sentiment.

Additionally, what the pandemic have taught us is that a 'one size fits all' work schedule is counter intuitive. Each business should have the ability to determine its own effectiveness and also be able to work with employees so that unnecessary trips to the office could be minimized.

In terms of full remote workers, I understand that having someone with the ability to come into the office when needed makes sense -- but again, that shouldn't be one big blanket demand. It should be decided by each branch at each level by administrators and position heads.
