trump’s promises
Re: trump’s promises
I wonder if someone failed to mention that the majority of the recipients are white, and likely voted for him.
What is important is that the abusive dad needs to wield power against family and foe alike. To make sure they respect his authority!

Now I know everyone is probably worried about the oligarchs and how they are gonna weather this storm.
I believe they will prolly do just fine, the American dream is safe with them.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

White women are about to find out that eliminating "DEI policies" is going to hurt them a disproportionate amount.
Maybe state universities should stop giving higher percentages of student aid to rural candidates from their states, too. You know, to ensure that the people who earn it get that money and it not just being a DEI reward for living in a certain zip code.

Man, sorry to hear that. Sounds like a lot of drug trials, cancer research and other types of extremely beneficial and important work is also getting sidelined or cancelled. And I would guess that this part is more feature than bug to a huge chunk - possibly a majority - of MAGA. For example, the sort of family man who might make several million dollars/year to kick a football.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:43 amIs she in a role that teaches something controversial such as real history?KUTradition wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:39 am i have a feeling i’ll learn this week that my mom has lost her job at KU

Hopefully everyone who works in universities and colleges have been honing their orange picking skills. If you don't mind sleeping in a shipping container with 20 other people and shitting outdoors there are about 800,000 temp jobs in Cali right now I hear.
I have been trying to talk my daughter into leaving her job at KU for a year now. She has a better offer in the private sector, but she likes the teaching aspect of her job. The choice may be made for her soon. Luckily she has a landing place already. I feel bad for everyone who does not.
Abusive dad president wants everyone to know he is in charge. The retribution will be widespread and indiscriminate, cuz chaos is wut keeps everyone on their toes and in fear. Governance by fear is what we have been needin fer awhile. Get used to it.

And cancer patients. And vets:
I fully expect the next step to many/most of these things will be for the supreme leader to walk back his own policies, and cast himself as savior for his magnanimity.

One of my brothers works for the federal government and has been getting weird emails and has had big group meetings with a trump appointee on efficiency and roles. Everyone in his department is terrified.
It's not good folks.
Re: trump’s promises
I do not perceive my own job to be at risk, but my ability to do it well is certainly compromised; it’s challenging to help people and businesses do what they want to do in a manner that complies with laws, rules and regulations when you don’t have any confidence in what the laws, rules and regulations are and mean and do and require.pdub wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 12:35 pmMini BUD lost a client and they came out and said they are concerned about the future economy and want to take less risk and move their agency local. Re: trump’s promises
that's weird. as is, the federal government is already so gosh darn efficient. whats there left to do that hasn't already been done. as it relates to gov't efficiency.

Re: trump’s promises
Well certainly there are inefficiencies.
But laying off a slew of people and implementing ai systems isn't going to do unemployment numbers any favors, nor the countries morale.

Re: trump’s promises
This isn't about government efficiency at all. But if it is, this is the least efficient way of fixing it as you are going to run off the best workers so that all that remains are the most desperate due to them being the least capable of getting a different job.
Re: trump’s promises
There is justifiable criticism for redundancy in our federal workforce.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 1:54 pmThis isn't about government efficiency at all. There is merit to the notion of the market providing many of the services that are provided by the federal workforce (and there is also merit to the notion of the government, through the federal workforce, providing some services presently provided by the market).
What is disastrous to both federal government employees and private market employees is flooding the private market with competition from suddenly-displaced, qualified and experienced (former) federal government employees.
