The brand, facilities, location. The BB team contributes to the brand certainly. I see the gear everywhere. A really unique situation. Powercats get you only so far.DeletedUser wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:47 pmWisconsin and Washington were also surprising to me.
I haven't dug into how they actually come up with their rankings. So take it for whatever it is worth, which may be very little.

I'm not arguing with you. I would like to know your reasoning for saying what you did.Sparko wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 1:49 amThe brand, facilities, location. The brand? The Kansas FOOTBALL "brand" in my lifetime has overall pretty much historically been shit.
If you mean the University of Kansas brand as a whole - Still, not top 17 in popularity.
Facilities? New stadium absolutely helps. I'm not sure the "facilities" overall are top 17 in the country.
location? Lawrence Kansas. Lawrence is a great town but how does the "location" of Lawrence come off as a positive in the valuation of a football program? I ask because I look at the list of top 20 and I don't see UCLA or USC. Not seeing USC is/was very surprising to me.
According to the link I am providing below - USC is the 12th most valuable PROGRAM.
I agree the BB team contributes to "the brand" but how much of the BB team and how much of the FB team contributes to this "sports" PROGRAM rating of 37? .....

You see the gear everywhere. Where are you that you see the gear everywhere?
What makes KU more unique than the 120 or so other programs KU is ranked ahead of?

I’d much rather live in Lawrence Kansas than Southern California.

Good for you! My guess is so would most people who are KU fans.
I'd much rather live in Lawrence than Columbus Ohio, Athens Georgia, South Bend/Notre Dame Indiana/, Baton Rouge Louisiana, University Park Pennsylvania, and most other, if not all other of the 16 places that are "ranked" ahead of KU.
Now tell me, what does YOUR much rather living in Lawrence than Southern California have to do with "location" in regards to the valuation of a college football program?
Heck, I would much rather eat pizza than rice.

SoCal would be awesome, but for all the people
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Happy Kansas Day incidentally. The srgument Gutter doesn't make will be the first incidentally. The Jayhawk is a one of kind mascot buoyed by a historic program for BB. Lots of Kansas legends in all sports. Recent investments in infrastructure. I have traveled the world seeing gear and getting rock chalked. A valuable brand.
