HORRIBLE and cynical me says....
Gee, Ousy, look at all those kids who are seeing the Mediterranean Sea.
Dude at the end is wearing a North Face jacket and owns a car. He's better off than I am. If they would allow an American Jew to live there, maybe I should move to Gaza.

Kind and compassionate me says (and means it)....
I am genuinely happy for those people (who are not Hamas supporters and realize Hamas is a BIG reason why they are in the situation they are) and I hope they can and will "rebuild" their lives and live happily in peace going forward.

Trump administration to cancel student visas of pro-Palestinian protesters
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

if you're upset about Netanyahu visiting Trump, then you're that much closer to understanding why so many also got upset about Netanyahu visited Biden

Doesn't this belong in the FAFO thread, too?

But, Kamala, and Biden!

Conflating Trump making Bibi the first foreign head of state to visit the White House with Biden, who avoided doing so until the final months of his term in office*, is imo, the sort of "gotcha" that has eroded your credibility.

*And then, likely only to throw a bone to American Jews on Harris' part for the upcoming election, because she had been so critical of Netanyahu.

“But she wasn’t critical enough to earn my vote,” one says as one watches Gaza protestors expelled from the country (if they’re lucky enough to not lose the Brown Lottery and end up on Gitmo-bound C-17s).

it's an interesting time frame. Of significant note, the "final months in his term for office" also coincided with campaigning for reelection. But Biden withdrew his candidacy on July 21, and Netanyahu arrived in DC on July 22. I dunno if there is anything to it, but since you suggest there is by saying Biden "avoided doing so" until he literally dropped out of the election, maybe there is.

As for the "throw a bone," I'm afraid the political capital lost by hosting a Netanyahu visit, and more significantly by providing weapons support for Netanyahu and Israel's assault on Gaza robustly and so unconditionally, was more than could be made up for overall by the Netanyahu visit in itself.

it wasn't a matter of being "critical enough." It was a matter of not continuing to give weapons to an accused war criminal who kept crossing the red lines we tried to establish anyway.

As for the pro-Palestine protestors, I'll jus say I am glad there are more posters here concerned about them now.

If it's any consolation, you'll have no shortage of company in the "I didn't support Harris because of [particular issue X], and now I'm watching [particular issue X] get even worse under Trump!" tent.

It's a big tent.

I'm not sure this particular issue (this thread) is getting any worse under Trump, though, so much as it is that this thread has always been bad and you only started caring more about it now that Trump is in office.

but, speaking of "shortage of company..."

if my third-party vote really did cost Dems the election, then it would probably behoove Dems to stop blaming me and instead start trying to actually appeal to me, so it doesn't happen to Dems again in 2028.
