Hold the phone!! . I knew there was something we could agree on Trad. (Primeval is great)
Some others I enjoy; Reacher, Lioness, Dexter(new), Landman, and all of Taylor Sheridan’s works(Yellowstone, 1883, 1923(seasons 1 and 2 starting next month. Anything written by the Coen bros.(includes all the Fargo ones. Anything with Billy Bob Thornton(never seen a bad Billy Bob show. And lastly but not least, any show where Nazis get their comeuppance.
otherwise, it’s quite entertaining
The greedy developers trying to impede on the ranchers is now Mexican cartels.
There is a really bossy, bitchy woman who loves making men feel inadequate.
About every 2 weeks, one of the main characters in a life or death showdown.
Someone disrespected (insert name here) and now it's time to whoop their ass.
About every 2 weeks, someone has get murdered and a body(bodies) made deleted.
Every episode slings around talk of millions of dollars being tossed around.
There is one main guy who is so over the top Alpha that it makes panties drenched.
Pretty close?
Oh, I am pretty sure I can do Tulsa King too.

pretty spot on
i’m assuming it’s a sheridan thing, but i haven’t seen anything of his other than this, 1883, and Yellowstone
i’ll probably give 1923 a chance, if for no other reason than the cast
1883 is by far the best of any of them

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Yeah, I am really into western American history.
A lot to work with.
It makes you stop and look into why the Mormons were brutally run out Missouri.

i’m guessing you’ve already been, but next time you’re down in the Portal, AZ area, the Chiricahua Desert Museum in Rodeo has a pretty cool run down of the history in that particular area, which is augmented nicely by a follow-up trip over the mountains to the actual Chiricahua Nat’l MonumentOverlander wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 10:37 pm Yeah, I am really into western American history.

Yes you really need to give 1923 a chance. Season 1 currently on Paramount + with season 2 release date is Feb 23. I love the relationship between Spencer and Alexandra.
On another note Kevin Costner’s Horizon sucks, imo.

Then you’re probably familiar with the Tombstone AZ area (I had a business there for 18 years)and am somewhat knowledgeable of the history.

Re: Finding New Shit on TV
oh...I think we've discussed, but...man, pretty sure movie theaters are going the way of the dodo.
Maybe the like 10+ screen multiplex joints in particular
Pretty sure ticket sales themselves are largely a wash, which mostly just covers the cost of getting to show a feature film. Most of their revenue comes from concessions sales. And even if popcorn is like $10 a bucket, how many buckets do you gotta sell to keep the lights on in like 10,000+ square feet of real estate?

Re: Finding New Shit on TV
...or maybe that's a trick question, considering they DON'T keep the lights on in a movie theater.

Re: Finding New Shit on TV
Watched 'A Real Pain' with Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin this weekend ( two cousins take a trip to Poland to learn more about their grandmother who survived the holocaust ).
Culkin is up for best supporting actor and I think he deserves a nod ( though i'd have to see the other movies before saying he should win ).
Eisenberg wrote and directed it as well. I know he can be an annoying character ( that's often the point ) but he also puts in a strong performance.

i plan to watch it; heard an interesting interview with Eisenberg about the process, and working with the concentration camp to film (something the camps hardly ever do, for good reason)
