10 one seeds and only got bounced twice on the first weekend. Looks like chances improve with a 1 seed. Not much chance of that this season.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
We'd almost have to win out (we'd certainly need to beat both UH and ISU) and then win big 12 tournament to get a 1 seed (by beating at least 1 of UH and/or ISU again).
Don't think that is possible.
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
I am of the mind that Bill Self and AFH turn teams with 3-4 seed level talent into 1 seeds more than any coach/home court in America.

First round and first weekend are very different.twocoach wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 12:29 pmFirst round? Yes, he was inaccurate as it was just 1 of 4 times. First weekend? He would have been correct as that is 3 of 4.DeletedUser wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 12:26 pm So not exactly lost "a lot" more than won as a 4 seed. (Shocker)
1-1
1-1
0-1
3-1
By my math, that's 5-4
The fact that we've made it to the round of 32 17 years in a row is incredible and under-discussed. How many times have the other blue bloods been bounced in the first round or not even made it there in that timespan? (rhetorical, but I know the answer is all of them, multiple times)

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
yea, excuse me.
I meant first weekend, not first round.
it's easy to get those two mixed up, as there's not much difference to a fan with expectations of a final four pretty much every year
but yea, I'm glad Bucknell and Bradley is so far in the rear view mirror

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
yea, so Elle Evans has a better grip strength than Dajuan.
But what about her ball handling skills?

There look to be 3 pages here that I haven't read but upon early reading, I don't think i'll bother.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Pretty big different between playing a AQ mid major seeded 13/14 and a 4/5 seed you'd see in the Round of 32. But yeah, it's generally the same level of disappointment.BiggDick wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 10:52 am yea, excuse me.

And we've covered expectations vs. hopes. It's not wise to expect anything in the tourney, let alone a Final Four trip. You're statistically much more likely to be disappointed. I expect a Top 2 seed to make the Sweet Sixteen. Making the Elite Eight is a hope. Making a Final Four is awesome. A 3 or 4 seed? Depends on the team but Bill Self coached teams seeded 3 or 4 seem to have holes in them that result in them usually not getting out of the first weekend. That's what I expect this season so anything better than that will be bonus basketball!
I mostly just hope they don't lose to any double digit seeds that we have to hear about for the next 10 years.
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
I mean, that WAS pretty sad. Five years in the KU S&C program. Yeesh.

Although I wouldn't have narrowed it to losses as a top 4 seed - for instance, UNC lost as an 8 seed in the first round in 2021. I'd say that's worse than losing in the first round as a top 4 seed because it means they had an entire season of shittiness.

Most experienced team ever indivually, but also really inexperienced playing together and in Self's systemBiggDick wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 9:10 pm it's nuts that 06 was defensively that good.
If there's something this team has that those teams lacked, it's experience.
06 and 19 in particular were young. This season has prob literally the most combined years we've ever had in a starting lineup. That's nice to have in March.
This team still has room for a lot of growth m

goddamnit they let you back just in time for the Scott Drew Sucks game huh randy
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Six years, but who's counting.
I don't think it's necessarily an indictment of the S&C program, so much as it is just a matter of fact that one particular athlete is just not particularly strong. That's ok tho! There's a lot more to basketball than grip strength.
I mean, the S&C program seems to be doing well with other players.
Related, and in other news: KJ is so fucking strong that even his hairdo looks swole now.
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
for real, Dajuan would struggle to even comb that shit!

My guess is no.
