Re: trump’s promises
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

They jump over the wall to get there? ICE there to check to see if they are "illegals?"
They are happy because they don't work for our government and aren't getting a letter from King MAGAt.
I just got off the phone with my sister (who lives in DC, has worked for the government, and has very good friends who work for the government).
Many VERY GOOD and VERY COMPETENT people are either being released or are quitting - and our country is going to be fucked when it happens.
MAGA my fucking ass.

It will be interesting to see to what lengths and how Trump, Elon, Bezos, Murdoch, Zuckerberg, Jamie Dimon, et al go about hanging the cultural, societal, and economic consequences of Trump's Presidency around the necks of DEI, Biden, "woke", and Democrats.
“As democracy is perfected, the president represents, more & more closely, the inner soul of the people. Someday, the plain folks will reach their heart's desire at last & the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

The United States produces 149,600 tons of avocados yearly. That's about
299 million pounds.
In 2023, the US consumed over three billion pounds of avocados.
It's the same situation with pharmaceuticals and the materials needed to produce them. We simply consume way more than can be produced entirely within our borders and do not have enough resources to produce them all without imports.
As always, it's never as simple as the simpletons think it could be.
Problem not solved.

Trump logic....
While I am in the process of getting rid of extremely competent and ESSENTIAL workers who are counted on for critical jobs because I have an ego and am a dickhead - I'll go ahead and insult entire groups of people because I'm an ignorant fuck and then blame them when they don't want to work for me (and our country) anymore.

A little late to the table, Gutter. This was clear in 2015. But especially 2024. We are supremely hosed.

DOGE has full access now:
Elon Musk’s government-slashing crew, the “department of government efficiency”, has been given access to the federal payment system, exposing the sensitive personal data of millions of Americans as well as details of public contractors who compete directly with Musk’s own businesses, an influential US senator has confirmed.
We have fully sold our country.

…and whether there will even be a neighborhood in two years depends on the people who successfully lobbied the HOA to allow bonfires (over the objection of those who thought we should stop at firepits) turning on flamethrower guy. Who has their banking details and internet histories from the prior lobbying effort.
