The United States produces 149,600 tons of avocados yearly. That's about
299 million pounds.

In 2023, the US consumed over three billion pounds of avocados.

It's the same situation with pharmaceuticals and the materials needed to produce them. We simply consume way more than can be produced entirely within our borders and do not have enough resources to produce them all without imports.

As always, it's never as simple as the simpletons think it could be.

…and whether there will even be a neighborhood in two years depends on the people who successfully lobbied the HOA to allow bonfires (over the objection of those who thought we should stop at firepits) turning on flamethrower guy.
