GTS: DJIA Drop 2/3

2328.34?

Might be hard to peg with the different trading brakes that may come into play.

And even after (if?) this shock phase passes, we have passed (IMO) into a polycentric world.

There is no reason to simply assume any longer that that things we export based essentially on our brand - call it "culture" items like food/bev, clothing, entertainment - will have the markets to which we've become accustomed.

And we'll be lucky if the bleeding stops there. If the US is no longer the center of the financial world...yikes.

Ontario has now said that no US companies will receive contracts in Ontario, which will result in tens of billions of dollars in lost revenue for US companies.

A Canadian stock analyst I follow more closely than any other analyst, upon hearing last Friday that Trump had decided the tariff on Canadian oil imports would only be 10% instead of 25% like everything else:

"10% is perfect for Canada. Make it really expensive for Midwest refiners without actually forcing them to look for an alternative."

25% big. 0% small. 10% just right.

So concludeth Trump’s analysis.

Egg prices may be up, but the cost of fried chicken has stayed fairly steady. And fried chicken tastes better anyway.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
