Drill Bits

Post by pdub »

I've got a TV wall mount that says I need to drill a 7/32 hole.
I got a 3/16 drill bit and a 1/4 drill bit.
You think I gotta go out to ACE tonight before installing and get that exact 7/32 or will the 3/16 work?

What could go wrong?
It only a TV, hanging from a wall.

You are (hopefully) screwing into wood.
A slightly smaller hole shouldn't matter, as long as the screws are strong enough to do it.

Listen I finally found the tool needed to locate these two studs so I'm definitely screwing into them.

I really hope 1/32nd of an inch doesn't really matter to drilling these studs.

Depends on the type of wood and shank size of the screw. 😏

Exactly.
Also, if they are those cheap ass Chinese screws, they won't make it past the paint!

Studs turned out to not be centered enough.
We are returning the mount kit.
I just wanted to mount into two studs.

Buy a good mount, that allows you to slide the TV side to side to center it.
