Re: Weather
Oh. The building behind the big one looks a lot like 1400. I miss the rooftop at 1400 - Chicago rooftops are amazing this time of year. Still have a couple condos there - creates an existential crisis whenever we consider the income from renting them vs the joy of staying in them on the weekends like we used to.Paul1 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 7:23 am Thank you Feral! As I often say, mother nature did all the work - I just pressed a button.
Mjl - Good call! Definitely 1300 N in the pics.
The large building in a couple of the pics is at Pearson and LSD. Which is what? About 800 North?
I'm at about 650 N.LSD - across the street from 680 N.LSD.
Re: Weather
I was at the pride parade (no-I'm not gay if anyone actually cares) and it got as dark as midnight.
Was on my bike so I rode home. As I am riding home I noticed all the boats out on the lake.
Got home, looked out the window/s, sure enough - ANOTHER freaking boat rescue.
At least the 5th one I have witnessed this boating season. People are stupid.

Wild!
It was foggy AF this morning here. Like, thick, dense clouds. It’s incredible how many people still don’t turn on their lights.

Freak summer hailstorm?
I would assume summer is the most common season for hail, if not spring...

Re: Weather
perhaps it's "freak" just by the volume of hail that accumulated.
either that or maybe that hail storm is like into butt stuff or something.

Re: Weather
Seeing you guys argue like this makes me wish I'd never posted a video with 5' of hail falling in Mexico, any time of year.

Nawlins gets hammered again. Could've been worse but damn, how many times that city going to have to rebuild? It's almost like building below sea level is a bad idea. Well that, and the fact that the Mississippi wants to shift course but the corps of engineers wont let it, instead choosing to trying and force it to remain with levees. Someday the river will retaliate.
Just Ledoux it

Re: Weather
If you watch some news outlets they've made it seem really bad, but some people I know down there are saying the news is blowing it out of proportion and hyping it up. They say there are some spots that have flooding, but apparently a lot of those places flood even when it's just heavy storms, so it's not really "news worthy" in some people's opinion. Apparently the levees mostly worked and nothing too excessive happened. So that's good I guess.TDub wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 9:53 am Nawlins gets hammered again. Re: Weather
Of course it's not news if nothing is happening so they are going to find the worst of it.
If you were one of those in a spot where there is/was flooding, my guess is you would think it's pretty bad.

Re: Weather
The swamps of Louisiana are not meant to be lived in. Malaria from the mosquito infested swamps, alligators, snakes, waterborne pathogens all located in the path of regular tropical storms and hurricanes and at the outlet of a massive river and all the pollutants that have been added to it. New Orleans is a cool place to visit but if my job wanted me to relocate there I would say hell no.TDub wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 9:53 am Nawlins gets hammered again. Whoa!
Just like that, it’s chilly again in the mornings. Enough so that there’s thick clouds of steam coming off the pasture ponds. I’m getting excited for autumn.

Re: Weather
The thing about hurricanes is that the wind goes on for hours. Think of an F5 tornado hitting houses and buildings for a couple of hours.
