Democrats should plaster this ad on billboards and into commercials from now until Nov. 2020:

And end the ads with this:

This week we witnessed the horror of watching an American president joke about killing journalists and foreign election meddling with a murderous dictator - and then we listened to cowardly silence from the #ComplicitGOP.

My sister who lives in DC has expressed her feelings to me about this year's 4th of July "celebration".
Let's just say she is not happy and for the first time in a long time she will not be "celebrating" in/at the Mall (near Capitol Hill). I'll keep her thoughts to myself and express mine.
My feelings are that it's going to be a real embarrassment for the country if the media is able to report everything they witness in an un-biased manner.
Donald Trump has decided to make this national holiday a political one and there are those on the right who are not happy about it. Not a good idea to ignore and disrespect those who support you.
4th of July isn't and shouldn't be about politics in DC. This year, it is. Actually, it's about Donald Trump. Let's be honest, Donald Trump doesn't give a shit about all Americans. He doesn't give a shit about the people who flock to the Mall during the 4th of July to celebrate. It's all about Donald Trump and not at all about America and Americans celebrating being American. What a p.o.s.!
Americans should be united on the 4th of July. ALL Americans celebrating being American and our country. Instead it's going to be a vile Trumpomercial in which there will be supporters and "protesters" being angry with one another. People divided.
The ugliness will be exposed for all to see.
That's making America great again? "Making America great again" is defined as Donald Trump stroking himself and people getting off on it with him. Fuck 'em all.

The whole thing is shameful, from the needless (and costly!) jingoism to the clear political (and fundraising!) purpose, to the division based on donation levels. Gross.

Which, as you obviously know, haven't been in use by the U.S. military, since the 1950s.

And now for some historical perspective:

What Nixon’s Independence Day celebration teaches us about Trump’s

“HOLD THE DATE!” President Trump tweeted on Feb. 24. “We will be having one of the biggest gatherings in the history of Washington, D.C., on July Fourth. It will be called ‘A Salute To America’ and will be held at the Lincoln Memorial. Major fireworks display, entertainment and an address by your favorite President, me!”

Fireworks? On Independence Day? You don’t say. But Trump is not the first flailing chief executive to try to transmute our apolitical zeal for July Fourth festivities into enthusiasm for himself. President Richard Nixon did it in 1970.

Lived in the DC area for a few years and found the cloistered mentality of all the Best and Brightest types sometimes tiring, that the traffic was unreal, the climate the worst around, the lines and crowds for any events daunting, but at the 4th of July celebration on the Mall, all that faded away.

Listening to the military bands, watching the fireworks, sitting/standing with everyone else who'd managed to make it to the Mall to celebrate July 4th--it was just special.

If you’re Joshua Gardner, special counsel at the Department of Justice, you tell the judge – on the phone, after the judge read the tweet and asked for an impromptu hearing – that “I’ve always endeavored to be as candid as possible with the court. What I told the Court yesterday was absolutely my best understanding of the state of affairs… The tweet this morning was the first I had heard of the President’s position on this issue…. I am doing my absolute best to figure out what’s going on.”

So are we all.

Meanwhile, Gardner added, “the Census Bureau is continuing with the process of printing the questionnaire without a citizenship question, and that process has not stopped.”

The census controversy has officially degenerated from (averted) tragedy to farce.

Patriotism has many definitions, one of which is buying socks made in the U.S.A.,not China.

Maybe, but why not celebrate the 4th "the best way"?

What's the over/under that George Soros &/or the Clinton Foundation paid for cloud seeding?

And the picture you see on the back of the chair in the top tweet? That's JFK Jr. Trump supporters/conspiracy theorists QAnon are in large attendance today. They believe that JFK Jr. faked his own death and has been living in Pennsylvania for the last 2 decades, and is going to return tonight at Trump's campaign rally (paid for by us), to confess and reveal the international child sex abuse ring that Democrats are running, and become Trump's running mate in 2020. I kid you not.

I refer any questions you might have to our resident conspiracy whisperer, lobster.
