2019 NFL Season
Re: 2019 NFL Season
I mean a dude you could potentially spend a franchise tag on.
There are endless guys in the late 1st to late 2nd that end up as probowlers in that range.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
"Saints signed WR Michael Thomas to a five-year, $100 million extension through 2024. The deal contains $61 million guaranteed and makes Thomas the league's highest-paid wideout at $20 million per year in new money. He's actually the highest-paid non-quarterback offensive player in NFL history right now, a number that will surely soon be surpassed by whoever is next in line..."
Does Tyreek ask for something similar?
Would the Chiefs take that plunge?
I think something closer to 5 years at 80 million with 40 guaranteed but laden with out clauses would be market.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
I think the Chiefs will spend a lot of time this year figuring out, internally, how good of a Tyreek impersonation Hardman can give them in 2020 and beyond. I agree that someone will pay Hill, and I don't think it can be the Chiefs.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
If Tyreek goes after a team-friendly contract that's closer to what Brandin Cooks signed last year then I think he could stay with the Chiefs.
If he's after a Michael Thomas/Julio Jones contract, yes, see what Hardman can do.
Can't tie up everything in WR when you have other spots to fill.

Particularly when that receiver is on the knife's edge of being out of the NFL.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
with the franchise tag option available for Hill the Chiefs do have a bit of the upper leverage BUT if you let Hill play out his deal this year and see what Hardman can do and Hill goes out and has a season with 1800 yards, 90 catches and 15 TDs if the Chiefs want to resign him at that time they will have to pay him a record WR deal to keep him.
On the flip side of things if he does go for those numbers at this time next time year we probably talking about how great of a Super Bowl parade and rally at Union Station that was.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
Right. And you don't need to let him go for free.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
Hill is going to get $80M+ from KC.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
I think around 80-85 for 5 seems appropriate but he may be looking to be in the highest paid echelon.
If that's the case, don't do it Chiefs.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
I disagree. If I were the Chiefs GM, I would gladly make Hill the highest paid WR in the NFL. He’s the perfect WR for Mahomes
Re: 2019 NFL Season
Sure, so long as you're not fucked on the cap in the case you have to let him go. That would be a surefire, Chiefsy way to blow Mahomes' prime.

Chiefs preseason opener against the Bengals on Saturday. Reid announced that Pat is going to get a quarter. I hope it is one series with nothing but hand-offs.

Direct snaps to the RB, even better.holidaysmore wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 11:52 am Chiefs preseason opener against the Bengals on Saturday. Reid announced that Pat is going to get a quarter. I hope it is one series with nothing but hand-offs.
Chiefs are signing Mo Claiborne. He'll likely have to sit the first four games for a suspension, but still a good get.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
Really good get. First 4 games are easy for Chiefs. They need him to be really good in November and December.
30 games the last 2 years for NY Jets. 6th overall pick in 2012. So he has talent.

Suspended players, arrests, murder-suicides. Chiefs are the new Raiders.

Man CNB. That’s a bit extreme, but I get what you’re saying.

Your average chiefs' fan stereotype of the Raiders is at play, though.

Got Claiborne on the cheap. Not mad at the move but man has that guy been penalized a lot. He adds depth to a some what weak group and you hope he isn’t Scambrick 2.0.
