good stuff here. I wanted to discuss the "moderate wing" comment but thought this would be a better post to quote.Mjl wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2019 9:16 pm My boy Delaney didn't make the pack for the upcoming debates.
I want a candidate that wants to reduce the deficit, increase-but-not-double the minimum wage, treat illegals like humans while still considering illegal immigration a crime, roll back the Trump tax cuts, and not demonize nor kiss the ass of businesses.
Delaney's all of that. Hickenlooper is fine. Biden seemed to abandon that in the first debate.
So... Is there anyone out there for a moderate to vote for? Someone to root for in the debates?
I admit that by most people's standards I'm probably a little left of moderate about a lot of things. But I'm curious about where a moderate voter stands on other issues.
I'm all for fiscal responsibility. I'm all for higher wages - it doesn't have to be some knee jerk sudden doubling, but at least something that keeps up with other general economic metrics. Regarding immigration, I like the way you put it.
I'm all for a more sensible tax policy...well, I'm probably more left about this (make the rich pay their fair share! Heck, make them pay a bigger share! they can afford it much more so than low-wage working classes. My exponential curve tax code is probably too progressive to be moderate, right?)
and I like the way you put "not demonize nor kiss the ass of business." But I suppose I think business does enough to demonize itself. Overall I think I'm of the "let business be business" mindset, which is to say, let free markets be free, and not so heavily subsidized by tax handouts. (but someone please call me out if there's some other angle to understand this)
Where does a moderate stand on civil rights issues? Or abortion issues? Or environmental issues? Or election law issues?
