I spent last weekend in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York. Note to self: next time, check the NASCAR schedule.

Watkins Glen had a big race weekend. Big trucks, loud music, MAGA hats, and Trump 2020 flags. It was the first time I have ever seen a MAGA hat in person

Yes!! Do I laugh, hide, fear for my life?

There were T-shirt vendors every where on the sidewalks. Adults I was with took photos with the maniquins wearing shirts that said “Nobody needs an AR-15? Nobody needs a whiney little bitch either yet here you are” and hats that said Trump 2020. My kid grabbed one of those hats and started to put in on to pose for a picture. I nearly screamed and demanded she stop touching it.

Dr. - Your experience reminds me of when I was a 9 year old kid and our camp cabin took an overnighter to the Duluth Minnesota area.
We got out of the cars and the first Duluthian I saw was a guy I am guessing was in his 30s riding what was a "Stingray" bike with a banana seat. He was smoking a cigarette and had what I felt were some scary tattoos. He looked at me and said, "What the fuck are you looking at asshole"?
It was the fist time in my life that I was excited to go to a city and then once I was there I felt I was in a place that I didn't belong - and I didn't want to be.
Fast forward to 2019 Fingers Lake last weekend and if I was with you, I probably would have had that same exact feeling as a 52 year old man.

Three highly intelligent (or at least very well educated) people in my office bought MAGA hats while Trump was running in 2016. Couldn't figure out if it was for legit reasons or just a novelty. They wore them, they displayed them at the desks and/or in their offices.
I just shrugged my shoulders and didn't give it much thought after that.
This morning I am giving it a lot of thought. Two of the guys no longer work for us but I am going to ask the one guy if he still has his hat and if he ever wears it. My guess is he still has it but hasn't worn it in a year and a half and never will wear it again.
Why would anyone wear one? There are literally a million or more hat choices. What would possess someone to willingly choose to wear a MAGA hat? I just don't get it. Well, I kind of get it. A lot of people are fucked in the head. I'll leave it at that.

Students can carry a concealed gun on them at KU classes. I brought that up on an admissions tour earlier this summer. For some of us, that is a really foreign/shocking idea. I work on a higher ed campus. I am made aware of how many students are on mental meds or should be getting mental care.

Following yet another weekend of mass shootings, I feel like so very very much has changed in our red states in just a few years. Some of this is public exposure. Some of this is real. Awakening to this reality is not comfortable. Literally, the rest of the advanced world does not have these problems.

Sadly, "Shirley" is banned here.

So, when did the clitoris become part of the reproduction process?

Moral scolds don't allow trivia like reality, much less anatomy, distract them from their societal shaming duties.

"Devil's Doorbell" is pretty clever though.

Funny to be labeled a moron by someone who thinks the clitoris is necessary for conception.

Apparently, this is the reason that on certain college ratings metrics KU (and Lawrence) have a low score for campus safety! We are at a very serious [redacted]-Board discussion and I almost fell out of my chair as we were entirely incredulous that KU and Lawrence would be considered unsafe. But there is a certain score for concealed-carry and KU was given that score!!

It's Bogie Day on TCM. I just finished watching "In a Lonely Place". I've never seen it it or even heard of it before. Really good movie.

Man, what food makes you fart the most?

I had a Reuben sandwich Sunday night and have been blowing up ever since. There’s some magic combo of corned beef and sauerkraut that turns me into a human butt trumpet.

Worst I ever had was fried cheese balls from Fuzzy's in Westport. Legendary.

Is Fuzzy's still there?
