My worry is that everyone close to him in the polls is far left. So by the time people realize it, it may already be too late for anyone that I would find votable to get enough delegates.
It's why Biden continues to do well in the polls.
Yep.

I think name recognition might be it as well though. Personally, and I say this as someone who caucussed for Biden in Iowa in 08 and wanted him as President then - I want to see him out of this race as soon as possible so that a more mentally with-it, less gaffe-prone "moderate" can emerge. Hell, even Yang, who I fundamentally disagree with on his major issue, would be fine.
Some people just want comfort. Biden is a comfortable pick.

In my opinion, we need more than a comfortable pick to resume our forward progress. If people get off their asses and vote then whoever is on the Dem ticket will beat Trump. Clinton would have beat him if more snotty little college aged Bernie supporters wouldn't have thrown a hissy fit over the DNC's early crowning of Clinton and sat out the election.

Mayor Pete seems like a nice comprosmise that all could get behind. Not my favorite candidate, but viable.

If Biden is the chosen one, that's like choosing Emporia State to play against Kansas. The days of having a middle-of-the-road candidate are over. Warren or Sanders would have a much better chance.

I fear that you might be right.

But I think there's room for someone moderate if they have the right charisma. Pete is the best chance of that, though he may be a little left for my taste - but at least he doesn't demonize corporations and seems more willing to compromise than Warren/Sanders/Harris.

I wish Sanders and Warren would just buddy up now.

Mayor Pete would be a great VP for any of the top contenders.

Pardon me if I don't consider your take on who has a chance against Trump very seriously. You vastly underestimate just how bad a lot of people simply want to remove this grifter from the White House.

Biden is certainly not my first choice but if my last choice of all the 20 dem candidates ends up winning the nomination then they will get my vote. This reign of absurdity has to end as soon as possible.

Someone needs to tell Biden to speak as little as possible. He keeps putting his foot in his mouth and
the Pubs are rightfully going to wave red flags regarding questioning his mental well being.

I’m tired of the huge corporations being too huge to fail and not paying any taxes. It is not fair to Main Street or any average citizen that our taxes support the reapers.

There's a middle ground. You can regulate and tax without demonizing.

There are companies/people that take because they can.
There are companies/people that activivly use their leverage to make it legal to take even more.
There are companies/people that won’t take the gifts/loopholes even if they are legal.

Do any of these deserve “demonizing” (your term)?

Corporations demonize themselves.

We need to gravitate away from the era of candidates being vaguely “pro-business,” and corporations being able to socialize losses and privatize profits, and avoid paying taxes to boot.

On a related note, I’m amazed how many voters will vilify poor folks on food stamps, while shrugging off big businesses that get more gummint handouts than anyone

Is there any reliable to quantify “how bad a lot of people simply want to remove this grifter from the white house?”

Cuz while that sentiment seems rampant, that was also around in 2016, and look where it got us.

Hate to say this, because it means I'm really old, but I remember the first massacre shooting that we paid attention to, the one on the UT Campus in the Texas Tower. Even remember how many people were shot. I recall the photos at Columbine, but after that it becomes sort of a blur and lately there've been so many mass shootings that when I read or hear about the shooter or some detail, I have to think, who, when, where, as they all run together.

Perhaps we should focus not on Joe Biden, but on just how crazy it is that even those of us with good memories can't recall the details of the various shootings, because they've been happening so often. And on why the whackadoodles can still buy military style weapons to shoot a bunch of people in 30 seconds.

There were more people simply voting against Clinton than there were voting against Trump. There isnt a dem candidate with the baggage that Clinton had.

What bugs me is that the number of people demonizing the food stamp program because a small number of people game the system and get benefits they shouldn't while at the same time gaming every system they can benefit from personally. Example #3,805 of their hypocrisy.
