It was mostly a goof. I wouldn’t overthink it.

Then why did you quote my question and answer it with something unrelated? You said literally the same comment a couple posts above when you responded to Michhawk.

If you dont understand how people looking to take advantage of a downturn in the economy for financial gain is related to millenials waiting to buy a home until after a recession then that Dumbass Alert wasn't set off by me.

"Unrelated". Come on. You're just arguing with me to argue with me.

Honestly, folks who are diehard Trump supporters in his base dont give a shit what happens with the economy or anything else. A recession isnt going to change their support so there no advantage to "wishing for a recession to make Trump look back".

And those on the fence seem to already see the warning signs out there and are adjusting so they dont need a recession to convince them of anything, either. Yes, there are a tiny percentage of people who are young and stupid who own nothing that would be at risk in a recession who are probably rooting for chaos because they like to see chaos. But from the sounds of it, Michhawk is claiming that folks like me who do not support Trump are rooting for a recession to make Trump look bad. That couldn't be further from the truth in my specific case.

Trump makes Trump look bad in my opinion. His policies, his behavior, his standing as a punch line among world leaders. I don't need a recession to have ample evidence that another Trump term is not what this country needs in the long term.

My dumbass comment had nothing to do with your stance on recession. You respond to every single post with 3 posts of your own. You repeat yourself, stammer around, contradict yourself. I'm not arguing with you. Half the time no one has to argue with you to keep you going, you do it all yourself, you're a one man show

And of course there are opportunities to take advantage of in a down economy. But that is provided you have the means saved up to do something about those opportunities. Employment opportunities and wages aren't going to continue to rise while the rest of the market falls....loans will tighten up. It might not be easier for a millenial to buy a house in a recession. It's easier to secure a loan in a rising economy.

Downturns are good for those with money stashed away. But, nobody roots for one. Or, they shouldn't.

Nobody roots for one? I disagree. That's naive. Nobody in our tax bracket roots for one, yes.

Surprise resignation of Georgia Republican senator Johnny Isakson. Effective at the end of this year. Now his seat comes open in the 2020 election instead of in 2022.

Republicans will now have 23 Senate seats to defend in 2020 vs. just 12 for Democrats. Next year's election is going to be very interesting.

U.S. lobster exports to China have fallen off a cliff this year as new retaliatory tariffs shift the seafood business farther north.

China, a huge and growing customer for lobster, placed heavy tariffs on U.S. lobsters — and many other food products — in July 2018 amid rising trade hostilities between the Chinese and the Trump administration.

Meanwhile, business is booming in Canada, where cargo planes are coming to Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Moncton, New Brunswick, to handle a growing bump in exports. Canadian fishermen catch the same species of lobster as American lobstermen, who are based mostly in Maine.

The loss of business has brought layoffs to some Maine businesses, such as The Lobster Co., of Arundel, where owner Stephanie Nadeau has laid off half the 14 people she once had working in wholesale.

“They picked winners, and they picked losers, and they picked me a loser,” Nadeau said. “There is no market that’s going to replace China.”

America has exported less than 2.2 million pounds (1 million kilograms) of lobster to China this year through June, according to data from the U.S. federal government. The country exported nearly 12 million pounds during that same period last year. That’s a more than 80% drop.

Winning! It stinks to see people in what was once a thriving industry be run over by the Trump train as it steams across America with no regards to what it leaves in its wake.

Luckily, we hold elections every 4 years. We get to re-boot if we decide to.

So are you in essence saying my attitude should be when Trump himself shoots someone in the middle of 5th Avenue we can just let it go and say "luckily" we hold elections every 4 years and we get to re-boot if we decide to? If so, cool!

That is truly despicable, and once again proves that Trump will use whatever device, ruse, lie, power that he or the federal government has, to further his cause, which is him, and the rest of us, our farms, jobs, trading relationships, savings, investments, 401ks, access to health care, rule of law, etc., be damned.
