Just a few looks, but he's fixed(changed?) his mechanics it appears, and was getting his shot off a lot quicker than I remember in previous years. I'm cautiously optimistic. The kid oozes confidence (arrogance?) which is a good thing for athletes.

hes not gonna be a guy looking to get his shot off from 3 anytime he wants. but I feel likes hes going to be able to knock down the open ones this year at a high enough clip to keep defenses honest. thats all he needs. he does everything else so well.

When he was a freshman I said I thought he would be the best perimeter defender self has ever had by the time hes a senior. I still stand by that. marcus garrett locks mother fuckers down

Sounds like Mitch will shirt. Self wants to turn him into a stretch 4 that shoots 3’s.

It sure seems like we need him this year, but if that's what he/we want to do then I trust that means we'll need him much more next year.

I mean yeah we need him this year, but apparently not that much.

He’s poised for a bigger role with more minutes. We get a known commodity who will only get better as a redshirt senior. Win win.

This is also a testament to how good Dok and Silvio and Mac are about to be this year...woot!

But can DMac and Dok play together? Or will we be forced to go "small" again without the correct personell to do so effectively? Maybe we've got more shooting that originally expected, but without multiple good outside shooters I don't think "going small" works very well.

Hopefully our identity this year is "defense".

Big Mac starting next to Udoka tomorrow night.

This year also seems like a better year to play 4 guards than we've had in the past with Wilson and Braun in the mix.

If this is an indictment on anything, it's certainly how good Silvio is and confidence in Udoka playing a full season.

I don't think I've ever thought "this certainly shows how good he is" after a player is replaced in the starting lineup, lol.

yeah, what's up with Silvio?

and we've already played plenty of small ball with just one of Dok, Mac, or Silvio in there.

We've got Dotson, Agbaji, Garrett, Moss, Wilson, Braun, Tristan, all of whom have lined up as guards/wings thus far. Pick 4 of those 7 and you've got yourself a lineup.

It's just to get another look before season starts.

Silvio is fine. Hasn't played since the Villanova game.

It's an exhibition game. Getting DMac some reps next to Dok, which he would get as much if he came off the bench. I doubt it says anything at all about Silvio or the current state of his game. If Self was making statements about how guys are playing then Dok would be watching from the bench. He stunk in the 1st game.

This. I don't think there's too much to look into here. Lineup next Tuesday is more likely still going to be Dot, Garrett, Och, Silvio, and Dok. The problem with Dok and Mac playing next to each is I don't trust Mac outside of Dok range, yet. He's taken some midrange jumpers, so obviously it must be ok with Self, but until he can slow down and play under control (which I think this lineup change for tomorrow is mainly for finding out) I want him as close to the basket as possible.

Self said before last game he was undecided who to start at the 4 between silvio and dmac. both are playing well and deserve minutes. so it makes sense he would give each of them a start in the 2 preseason games

The starting lineup will never ever had DMac and Udoka in it together. Just can't.

DMac is a perfect 5 off the bench and will be a really good player when, not if, Udoka gets into foul trouble.
