Whatever you say chief. KU football has sucked for a decade because they don't care about the tater game enough. My gosh.
Not talking about sucking in general; I mean losing to KSuck. I would rather have won today than last week.
Sure. They're a much better team. The stadium was sold out for the first time in 10 years. Quite a few people that live in Kansas care about that game more than they would the Tech game simply because of the opponent.

We got our ass handed to us at the line of scrimmage just like TCU game. It's nonsense that Les Miles caring more about the game with whatever gimmicky motivational speech or whatever changes that.
I would settle for a team that comes out with a fire lit under them, a QB who knows which color jersey he is supposed to throw to, and defenders who pursue the ballcarrier. Speeches are a part of that, but it is more of a culture that is instilled. This was just another game for KU, and it showed.

I do believe they cared about this KSU. I do believe they prepared for it. They simply got beat in every way by a better team.
Right. I didn't see a team that wasn't ready to play or looked like they didn't care. We've seen plenty of that in the past.

It was a mismatch at the line of scrimmage and our until-then hot QB misfiring on 2 bad throws.

You thought the team came out asleep? I'm not sure anyone else saw that.

Stanley was off and the defense just plain got beat. That's execution and personnel. We had 13 scholarship players active today in the defense's front 7. That's insane, and doubtful that any other P5 program has to deal with that.

I'm just not seeing a scheme or effort issue today.

I agree on culture, and wish that could happen overnight. It's going to be a process. I do think it is improved from the previous staff which was kind of a circus.

KSU out schemed, out coached, out everything they could do. KU would have had to play a perfect game and had every break possible to go their way to win. It didn’t and we all saw the results. It was awful and all we can ask for is they continue to play hard the rest of the way.

Precisely. And they did so because this game was a priority for them, rather than one that hit their radar last Saturday night.

I didn’t realize how much of an edge kstate would have on both lines until I saw it live today.

Yikes.

KU is getting there. Kstate just had the experience up front and it showed

Offense was shit today, Stanley was off as all passes seemed to go high. Receivers really seemed frustrated. Dearmon couldn’t find a rhythm. kstate has a great defensive plan. Jam outside receivers and then drop everyone else and hope your front 4 beat the 5 OL of KU and kstate did just that. Nothing special, just lined up and kicked the shit out of KU.

That sums it up. Dearmon got it handed to him today. It happens.
Positives. Great to see a full crowd again. Didn’t even know that was possible.
Thoughts: How does Miles to Go spin this absolute dumpster fire of a game?

They’ll do a feature on a player. And they’ll talk about how KU will come back to work hard on this bye week and reevaluate themselves again..

But yes, Memorial was awesome to see full. Had some state fans behind me saying how beautiful the stadium is when full and the hill full as well. This was a college football atmosphere today. Although both teams fans were quiet. And I was surprised there was as many KU fans as there were. A solid 70/30 split and that may be generous to kstate fans, could have been a 75/25.

kstate loses a ton seniors up from on both sides next year. Hopefully KU gets them up front then.

But on a side note about Memorial full.

The gates were consistently packed. The guest services people didn’t seem prepared. It was bizarre. I looked down the stadium from inside with 5 minutes before the game started and the lines always seemed to be 200 people deep at all gates. Took us 25-30 minutes to get in and we started with 45 minutes before the game.

Long needs to improve that aspect of the game experience because I think we’ll be seeing more crowds like that in the future.

Just shows how far we have to go. Everything touching football had been a Mickey Mouse operation.

Booth logistics an issue all season. You can’t run things like a HS operation.

Talk about not being prepared for the crowd, I went to get two beers and some popcorn right after half time from the entry level kiosks on the west side of the stadium and both items were sold out.

I like how KUAD sent out multiple emails about being prepared for a sell out crowd and who was the worst prepared out of everyone. KUAD.
Top to bottom every facet of the football program needs a lot of work.

You also have to figure KSU football has been a mostly competent program for the last 30 years...KU football, other than a few seasons under Mason and Mangino, has been a disaster; that shit doesn't change overnight.

Good luck convincing me that the road game to Kansas was "a priority for them" any more than it was for Kansas. They are better than us and it showed. We have some talented individual players but have a lot of contributors who are simply outmanned.

When you rely on scheme and emotion more than talent, you get your doors blown off from time to time.

I watched the game and our team looked and played horrible in those hideous uniforms.
I'm reading on here that from a fan's standpoint the athletic department did a poor job preparing for the game at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium yesterday.
It was a bad day all around for the University of Kansas football program.
It's been obvious for quite some time that we are a basketball school and football simply is not the University of Kansas forte.
Tuesday can't come soon enough.

There is no question that the KU-KSU football game means a lot more to KSU fans and alumni. Which makes sense, they have nothing else going on in their lives.

I would like to beat KSU when we play them, but other than that, it's just another day of the year for me.

i’d like to think our university and it’s athletic teams think bigger than a single game (or two in the case of hoops) against an in-state rival

Most of that is just the reality of a sold out stadium. KSuck is sold out every week, and you just have to plan on it taking an hour to get to your seats and thirty minutes to get to the concession stand and back. There’s only so much event staff can do.

That's silly. The stands were packed and KU fans were hyped Big time. "It meant more to them " is fan talk for "I dont want to admit they killed us". Winning that game was as important to us as it was them. We just weren't good enough to do it.
