JFC. Do you have any idea how many Texans speak Spanish?

Of course you don't.

At the risk of being accused of elitish wannabe signaling, being fluent in Spanish too would be great!

Not practical enough. I think he burned a lot of bridges by staying in the race a couple of months too long. If he had followed Hickenlooper and started a Senate run he could have made a difference. Now, it is very difficult to see him holding any sort of higher office in Texas after he scared off voters with his position on assault rifles and bigoted churches (FTR, I agree with his positions but I also think that discretion is the better part of valor) - the electorate is just not ready, just like they weren't ready for gay marriage 15 years ago.

But to be fair, I don't think anyone could have guessed that,

"Hi, I'm Beto, the guy with the foreign-sounding name, O'Rourke, and I'm here to take your guns away!",

wouldn't be a winning message.

Why The Street Fears Elizabeth Warren as a Frontrunner

This past summer I wrote about Senator Elizabeth Warren’s plan to “transform” financial services and “rein in Wall Street”, referring to her policies as “banking sector napalm.” If she had her way, the trillion-dollar private equity segment within finance would be burnt to a crisp. Her policy ideas for spreading the risk back toward those reaping most of the reward and away from the target companies and employees would be almost surgical in its ability to inflict pain. You can read about it here.
This morning I jumped on set for MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle with Professor Scott Galloway to explain why Wall Street is so terrified of Warren’s campaign rhetoric and the potential for her becoming the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination.
Hope you like it!

Wall Street and corporate America haven’t held back about their fear of Elizabeth Warren winning the White House. NYU Stern School of Business Professor Scott Galloway and CEO of Ritholtz Wealth Management Josh Brown join Stephanie Ruhle to explain how things like the insane payout for WeWork founder Adam Neumann to leave the company he ran into the ground keep proving her point. Aired on 10/30/19.

Hmmmmm, I guess I expected Mayor Pete to be higher, and Biden a little lower. But, national polls are notoriously inaccurate, so

If one wasn't impressed by just how badly Elizabeth Warren handled the Pocahontas episode, this week we had the worst week in Trump's presidency. And bless her heart, Elizabeth Warren takes that opportunity to dump the plans for the most sweeping healthcare program ever on the planet that will take away private insurance from 150 million Americans and hand Republicans the best talking points they could have.

A program that would require the combined charisma and popularity of Obama and Bill Clinton and the legislative arm twisting ability of LBJ to implement--and funding mechanisms which are naive, or maybe laughable?

I think Pete needs to win that ballot. He is both likeable and seems reasonable. Warren and sanders are neither.

If Florida's primary day were tomorrow, who would you vote for?

I don't know why, but I kinda figured you'd be fine with Warren.

Yang, one of the few who gets it. The dems better focus on getting people excited about their candidates. Playing not to lose doesn't win.

At this point, I truly don't know and would probably decide at the last moment. But it would never be Warren.

She has all kinds of plans that are really non-starters in terms of getting things passed and political skill-wise, she's still basically a college professor to wealthy, elite students. Her advisors are heavy on the pure academic side, not the "worked in government and got a university job after" types.

I think Democrats probably make a mistake by focusing on senators and not governors. I thought that all the governors running were far better candidates than the senators.
