That's silly. The stands were packed and KU fans were hyped Big time. "It meant more to them " is fan talk for "I dont want to admit they killed us". Winning that game was as important to us as it was them. We just weren't good enough to do it.

It was the first KU sell out in what, 10 years? To paint it as "it meant more to them than to us" is disingenuous.

And yes, I am well aware of that.

KU was too outmanned to have Stanley wimping out on offense. I think it was the worst game at QB in a number of years. They were in his head.

I have to say, there was a crap ton of kitties on the west side of the stadium. We had some horrible play calls on offense. Our defense was on the field way too much. I think our biggest issue was line play on both sides of the ball. I think our defense didn't seem to tackle players on first contact, also had issues covering the pitch man. That said they played night and day better than the offense.

I think we all were drinking a ton of kool-aid and hoping for a win. We need to slow our expectations and realize this is not a one or two year turn around. It sucks but improvements are happening. We just need to sip the kool-aid and not return to chugging the kool-aid like college days.

We are getting there, it was a bit of a sit back not the end of the season. Not going bowling but very few of us thought that was possible.

All that said, I was 100% hoping for a win and knew the loss would suck more than any other game this year.

imo, and any single game aside, KU-statie matchups always seem to mean more to them (probably because they trail in the all-time series for nearly, if not all sports). that doesn’t mean we don’t want to win

THIS.

To suggest that Kansas was less motivated for this game is silly. This was a benchmark game in the program for the year.

Motivational speeches are fine, but these are athletes who have succeeded at nearly every level of their lives. They've gotten to this point in their careers because they are superior athletes who know how to compete at the highest level. They know what it takes to get themselves motivated.

It's like the people who get mad at Bears coaches because the team loses to Green Bay. Don't the coaches know Green Bay is the rival? How can they not get these guys motivated for a rivalry game like this?

Rivalry games are more for fans than players. There's a history there for fans that dates 20-30-40 years. To a sophomore defensive back, the rivalry has been a year. It doesn't hold the same significance as it does to a guy who's watched 45 KU-KState football games.

Players play to win. They want to beat the other team on the field regardless of who it is.

In my opinion, what happened was a younger, inexperienced team with less talent got whipped by a veteran team with more talent. That's it.

If you want to see coaching, see how they respond next week.

To me, arguing about who this game is more important to is a silly argument.

I think it's about HOW we lost the game.

We were predicted to loose. Vegas had KSU favored by 6.

I think had we lost a nail-biter, or even a competitive game (loose by 14 or 17 points or something) I'd feel differently.

But we got our asses kicked in every facet of the game for 60 minutes, the game was 38 to 3. Even if it meant more to KSU, after you crack helmets a couple times, that all goes out the window.

I think you're point is right though, lets see how the team responds.

The KSU Duck Dynasty Defensive coordinator did a great job of making Stanley panic--as is the peculiar wont of such a strange dude. They had teased out a game plan of shifting pressure with 8 in the box and it worked really well. The game was lost on quick and silly turn-overs. Then it was a game of patient attrition.

Woulda been nice to see some adjustments to it.

Wouldn't have changed the outcome, but woulda been nice.

Taters have twice as many Kansas kids on the roster as KU. Those numbers tell you who is naturally more motivated. The 3rd string, white dude from Atchinson looked like a stud. He was runnin' his mouth like he grew up in NYC. Also, Kansas has out-recruited statie for several years. The difference was coaching them up by old balls and this hayseed.

Watching warmups and seeing how small we were in comparison, this outcome wasn’t surprising.

Sure, getting into the backfield many times and scaring the RB or QB only to have a big play happen was infuriating, but glad their are glimmers of change.

And as said before, we really are just going to have to recruit out of this.

Read tonight that they were butt-hurt about Miles Ahead. Which makes sense because they had to go back to Mancrappy.

That is a bunch of BS. If the Taters needed that 'extra' bit of motivation provided by Les then they are in the wrong sport. The 'bulletin board' material narrative is to easy to play.

KU talked a bunch of smack and didn't back it up. The better team won. End of story.

Yep. kstate was physical, they taunted KU, they had penalties that were physical penalties and Kansas stood back.

Saturday was not a good day for Kansas football. They need some big bodies up front, badly. The skill guys mean all the world, but you have to get big bodies up front to be successful on a consistent basis.

Klieman even said during his presser, "We knew we were the better team up front, and we challenged our guys and they answered"

That's a slap in the face to Kansas football and to Miles. You have to be better up front. Kansas was OK for the Texas and Tech games, but they need to be better on a consistent basis.

It will be very interesting to see how these remaining games play out. I'm assuming they will be double digit underdogs so do you keep playing for Ws or try in mix in guys (especially at QB) to see what you have for the future.

I think this will happen after the next loss. Need him to play multiple series to what he has. The question is who is he? Is it Locklin or MacVittie?

How many games has Torry Locklin paid in so far? Don't want to waste a red-shirt during the next 3 games.

He played against Texas on offense, I think he was in against Tech too on Special Teams and then had some offensive snaps against kstate. So he has 1 game left to keep the redshirt. I think the staff is smart enough to not burn his redshirt.
