Kansas football fans should be grateful for Carter Stanley:

When you crap the bed during the biggest game of the year, you're going to get some blowback. Comes with the territory.
But, hey, we're not really here to discuss KU sports. Follow the link and go check out ThroughthePhog's blog. That's what matters most.

Re: Carter Stanley: Pussy
I think accepting that Stanley is both good and terrible depending on the opponent is the worst part. He was awful against CC and KSU, and slow starting against everyone else. You felt like he was going to get on a roll Saturday. And we got a fetal position guy. I would say we are unlucky to have such a slow-starting inconsistent QB, despite the flashes of greatness.

Re: Carter Stanley: Pussy
This program needs a game changer at QB. They haven't had a game changer since Reesing.

Guys look at some of the other position groups on the team.
We're not doing too badly having Stanley--would be nice if he was a sophomore.

At this point Stanley is who he is and you are right, CnB it would have been interesting to see him play multiple years under the same OC.
KU has not had stability at the QB position or anyone close to the level that Reesing played at since he left but for a two game stretch Stanley was closer than anyone had been in a long time.
I (we) have to imagine that Dearborn will be good on the recruiting trail to find that next QB or he develops Mac, Locklin or the 18 other QBs we have on this team. Either way, like Newton alluded to if you don't have a great QB your team aint going very far.

Definitely. The line outside of Adeniji (Got invited to Senior Bowl and will likely be drafted) stinks.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 2:18 pm Guys look at some of the other position groups on the team.

With a solid line, he'd be just fine. He had some time Saturday, but then got happy feet or would rush a throw.
Need a guy who is a bit more mobile that what Stanley is though. Stanley only runs when it's needed, I think Dearmon would like to have a mobile QB to have some QB-based runs.

Is it fair to say Stanley Carter is the best Jayhawk QB since Todd Ressing?holidaysmore wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 2:47 pm At this point Stanley is who he is and you are right, CnB it would have been interesting to see him play multiple years under the same OC.

Re: Carter Stanley: Pussy
He is. The answer before this year was probably Michael Cummings. But Stanley is the best QB in the last 10 years.

He is and I'm really not sure if it is close. Maybe Bender is the closest?
Unless they go another direction for the last three games, which I believe they won't Carter will probably end up in the Top 5 in just about every major KU QB statistical category.

The crazy thing is, going back to 2006 our best QB was Reesing, our second best QB in that timespan was probably Kerry Meier.
So...we've had a WR who was better than every QB we've had in the past decade.

But the slow starts and the mistakes. I would rather invest the snaps in the future. Stanley might do his every other game turnaround, but even Miles was better than Stanley last week. Stanley has been the issue in several losses now.
Re: Carter Stanley: Pussy
That sends a great message to future recruits... one bad game, even as a senior and we move on from you.
Overreact much?

Re: Carter Stanley: Pussy
Last Saturday was a complete team loss from coaches to players. That trend has been pretty consistent in all of the losses.
I did ask that very question but at this point barring an injury you stick with Carter. He has earned that much at least from this program along with he gives this team the best, albeit slim chance to win. If they were going to make a move at the QB position it would have been earlier in the year.

Re: Carter Stanley: Pussy
Saturday was at least his third bad game; and he has started slowly in every one. He has had his shot. If he can win the next three, great--but unlikely. He has cast a long shadow on several losses. Bad decisions, turn-overs. There are folks who deserve a shot at playing behind him. Maybe he needs to be against the wall to play--who knows? It is mystifying. Hot/cold guy.

It's almost as if he has had 38 head coaches and 759 coordinators.Sparko wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 12:32 pmSaturday was at least his third bad game; and he has started slowly in every one. If a guy has proven that he can throw for 400+ yards against a Big 12 opponent, he has done more to prove he deserves to keep his job than anyone on the bench has proven that they "deserve a shot". Pretty sure that all the guys behind Stanley have done to "deserve" to play is not be the guy you're mad it.
