Best Fried Chicken
Re: Best Fried Chicken
Popeye's is trash.
Stroud's is the gold standard.
Never heard of the other joint.

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Let me guess, you're not African American.
What do I win? Besides a possibly deserved racist accusation.
GCG and Strouds are not nation wide.
Not sure why Popeye's was thrown in to 99s question.

There was. I think it's still there.
Popeye's is the best I can get here. I like it once a month or so.

Re: Best Fried Chicken
We have Chicken Express and Golden Chik here in the Dallas area.
They both should leave their chicken in the oil for 3 more minutes.

Popeye's has the added benefit of really good red beans and rice.

if they don’t offer a spicy option, they’re immediately disqualified from discussion

Re: Best Fried Chicken
Fried chicken is my thing. In KC: Corvino, Rye, and Gus's.
I had Anthony's fried chicken a few weekends ago for the first time and it was pretty damn good. Huge pieces. I still haven't had RC's or the North End.
And that's not even getting into Korean Fried Chicken which is just objectively better but only average-ish options in KC: KoKoDak and Kobi Q in a pinch.
Fast food: Popeye's and it's not close.

Re: Best Fried Chicken
I never really cared for Stroud's fried chicken. Their gizzards were good. The CFS is massive and pretty tasty. But I haven't been there since moving outta KC.
Here, it's Grime's or Popeye's.

What if I had said I loved Church's Chicken? Would you still question my blackness?
Re: Best Fried Chicken
Stroud's is still really good in Wichita...the two or three Popeye's franchises here are sub-par. We have a Mom & Pop fast food place called Krispys that has pretty great fried chicken.

Re: Best Fried Chicken
In the past two months they opened a Popeyes and a new Korean Fried Chicken place, all within walking distance of Casa Chiknbut. Haven't tried the Korean place, but the Popeyes is awesome. And "yes" about the Red Beans and Rice.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 9:39 am Fried chicken is my thing. In KC: Corvino, Rye, and Gus's.

Church’s chicken is the best

Hold on people. Are we talking strictly fried chicken or are the sides difference makers?chiknbut wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:19 amIn the past two months they opened a Popeyes and a new Korean Fried Chicken place, all within walking distance of Casa Chiknbut. That's a whole other story.
I have found that when I go to Popeye's in the Chicagoland area they are often underperformers.
Division and Clark - Now closed but was absolute garbage.
Fullerton near Damen - Not good at all.
Ogilvie Station - Garbage.
Milwaukee near the Kennedy - Fair at best.
Addison near Western - Not bad but not up to standard.
There was one just off of Michigan near Ohio that closed - Garbage.
