I do think KC played that as well as they could. Offense couldn't get anything going. But they ran the clock and made San Diego burn their TOs and leave it in Rivers hands. He has lost 61 games by a TD or less in his career. He will always find a way to blow it.

Now that doesn't mean that I don't think that KC could have been more aggressive, but I do think without doing much damage, they played that the second best way. You couldn't get a deep shot without Tyreek. Mahomes was something like 0-4 on throws 10 yards down the field in between the hashes. He just couldn't get anything done.

KC played a good 2nd half.
The cover 2 really bothered Mahomes and our defense was ( per usual ) allowing massive chunk plays in the 1st half.
Chargers zoned deep to avoid any big plays and Mahomes was forcing it -- adjusted with screens and quick outs to Kelce and won.

Raiders unexpectedly going to be a big game.
We'll get the bye to prep.
Hopefully Hill, Williams and McCoy come back healthy.

Get the AFC West all at Arrowhead now.

I think the Chargers were in cover 3 but I get your point.

The flats and middle of field 5 yards down the field were open all night. So Mahomes and Reid took what the defense gave them. The result was Mahomes' worst night passing the ball, but still did the necessary things to win like scramble when Chargers went to man and no one had eyes on him. (But Pat, stop running)

Hill is a cover 3 beater because he takes defenders attentions and leaves those middle crossing routes, deep outs and screens open because defenders have to bail.

Chiefs are always great out of a bye, and they always go on some crazy run. Defense was the ideal bend don't break and it worked out great last night.

Think KC will be as close to full strength on Dec 1 in Arrowhead as they were to start the year in Jacksonville. Bye week is ideal. Get guys healthy. Self scout. Game plan. All things Reid does very well in.

And you're right PWhitt, all remaining division games at Arrowhead. Oakland has all their division games on the road.

I have to say - as a borderline OCD person when it comes to symmetry and even numbers - the NFL alignment and schedule is a thing of beauty.

16 games - 6 in the division (home/away). 4 against an entire NFC division (and your division plays the same games). 4 against another entire AFC division (and your division plays the same games). 2 against the remaining same-place finishers from the AFC division you don't play.

Perfection.

And so, the NFL being what it is, they'll ruin it soon.

They'll add a game to the schedule or a team to the league to fuck it up.

I have very low expectations when it comes to the Chiefs defense. Be good or average in three, IMO key areas. Force turnovers, get off of the field on 3rd and make opponents kick FG. Last night they hit every check mark. If the defense is close to that for the rest of the year this team has a chance.
When you lose ‘Reek on the I believe first series of the game it throws your whole weeks preparation out of the window so I can understand why they didn’t look great. It is crazy to think that a team is starting to really come together this late in the year but with the previous injuries and more soon to come that entire unit is trying to figure out how they mesh together. Use the bye to get as healthy as you can and make a run for Miami.

Only if it’s team #33. If it’s just moving Jacksonville, it shouldn’t be that hard to figure out. With Thursday, Monday games and bye weeks, it would rarely cause any real pain. Of course everyone cry about it, but that’s just the culture of modern professional sports

Oh god a 33rd team ruins everything.

Much more likely a 17th game is added (in exchange for two preseason games), and additional international games are added. I could see something as extreme as two cities/regions having full 8-game slates (with different teams), so that "season" tickets can be sold.

The players that have to play for the new team will rightfully bitch about it. Different country causes issues.

Will just be interesting how they handle 8 games in London and what the divisional opponents think about it.

Cascadia wants KU to move to the PAC12 so I don't highly regard his opinion on an NFL team moving to London.

Maybe it’s because I spent the early part of my career working in global supply chain / logistics / manufacturing that I know form experience that a team in London (or 4 B12 teams to the PAC16) isn’t really that hard to pull off. If the
money works, everything else will fall in place

Money will be at the forefront of the players' claimed grievances. So much so that it really gives the NFLPA some leverage, which we all know the NFL hates to give up.

But, if I had to bet on it, I would bet on a team moving to London.

I agree. And I think it would be great to have a team in London. In fact, I’d argue for two teams in Europe

We’re in 99% agreement here. I do not think the NFL will ruin it. I think they know how well they have it figured out for the ‘TV Show’ aspect of things.

As bad as it looked, the Chiefs defense had 4 INTs, held the Chargers to their 3rd lowest point total, held them to punt, punt, INT, INT on their last 4 drives and allowed them to rush for just 93 yards in the game.
