Are we sure about that?

Without Garrett, the defense also drops significantly. Self put him on Toolson last night and Garrett locked him down. The defense starts with Garrett. And he can make a perimeter shot just enough as well as driving to make his time on offense valuable.

Dotson has been fine with Garrett on the floor.

The best lineup for this team is Dotson, Garrett, Moss, Ochai and Udoka. Any lineup with Garrett off the floor stinks because the defense drops big time.

not that I think we'll really see it, but Garrett is arguably our most natural point guard/creator. Maybe our sets should have him initiating more? Does it lessen the issue of shooting if the ball is in his hands?

I almost think the issue of Garrett's jumper may be exaggerated, especially when fans mention it as if it nullifies everything else he brings as far as defense, playmaking, and intangibles.

I get it, but you have to step back and think about how this plays out from an overall efficiency standpoint. I have no idea how you'd get good numbers (sample sizes will be too small to just measure what's happened to date), but it would not surprise me at all if the offensive gains from Doton+shooters (no Garrett) far outweigh the losses on defense, in each case on a points per possession basis.

Particularly when you have good-to-great defenders at the 5, you really can live with getting roasted on occasion, if it means you're maximizing your most talented player's opportunities.

But then you're taking the ball out of Dotson's hands, which there should be like a shock collar for.

Moss seems like a liability if his shooting is off, or at least that was the case last night

He's not very athletic and can't do anything other than shoot.

That's fine, all we were asking for was a Tyrel Reed role. If he just gets his feet set, I'll gladly take his 2-3 three's per game.

Tyrel's athleticism, Case's shooting and Selby's ballhandling live an interesting life together.

I will say this about Tyrel's vertical athleticism: It saved Tyshawn at least 1 turnover every game.

It’s been suggested that Moss still isn’t 100% healthy...

Here’s at least one highlight reel from Iowa that’s mostly him finishing at the rim

dude lookes like he had an allergy to the rim last night.

2 on 1 fastbreak and he spots up at the three point line.

I don't care how good a shooter you are, a dunk is a higher percentage play, can also result in 3 points, and has the chance of getting the other team to foul.
I only came to kick some ass...

Rock the fucking house and kick some ass.

Assuming he can dunk, I'm not sure that's the case right now. He very well could have less than a 30% chance of finishing at the rim with a defender in front of him.

As we all know, not being able to dunk is occasionally the result of poor conditioning.

I think Michigan St is #2; Louisville is #1.

Michigan State 1 again today.
And for those complaining about our strength of schedule?
We have the 25th ranked SOS, the 2nd toughest in the top 25.
