I'd guess Sparty has quite a bit less 1-3 seeds in that time frame than the other 2. They're not built for a season-long elite power run and aren't nearly as consistent year-to-year, partly b/c they're not as big of a brand.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 12:14 pmAs I looked just now. In last 18 years. Spartans out in first weekend 8 times. Duke 5 times. Self/KU 6 times.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 12:08 pmK and Duke seem to have the most early bow outs as a high seed.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 11:59 am
Izzo in March is overrated. Last year they made Final 4, which is great. But there hasn't been a program like Michigan State that has lost games in the 1st and 2nd rounds like Izzo's Spartans have. Especially being a high 2 or 3 seed.
As for Sparty, it just seems their ceiling is as high as ours. Maybe only Kentucky could say the same thing. I just really like our team.
I recall seeing a graphic where Izzo outplayed his seed more than any coach. I think that's where his reputation was really built.
