Ugh
Re: Ugh
This is beyond sad. smfh. We've learned nothing. Nothing.
It's despicable that Bush and Obama would repeat the same insanity of the Johnson and Nixon Administrations, all the while betraying the American people and sending their children, brothers, sisters, moms, and dads off to fight and die, or come back changed forever.
... Since 2001, more than 775,000 U.S. troops have deployed to Afghanistan, many repeatedly. Of those, 2,300 died there and 20,589 were wounded in action, according to Defense Department figures...
If you find this beyond outrageous, take a minute to reflect on what it must have felt like during the Vietnam War, when there was a draft, you could find yourself being shipped off to fight before you knew it.
One out of every 10 Americans who served in Vietnam was a casualty. 58,148 were killed and 304,000 wounded out of 2.7 million who served.
Few things focus the nation's attention like a draft during a hot war.

Re: Ugh
Not having a draft perhaps means that lots of people don't care if other people's children go off to die and get maimed, as long as theirs don't?
Have actually heard someone express basically that sentiment.
Of course we could wonder why anyone who knew that the Imperial Brits couldn't subdue Afghanistan would think that the Russians or Americans could.

Re: Ugh
The whole fucking thing comes back to WMD.
If Iraq had the WMD, then GWB, et al. wouldn't have felt compelled to create the "democratization" bullshit. But they didn't. And so they fucking stuck us in these two shitty wars.

Andrew Bacevich -- retired US Army Colonel, Boston U. professor, and Gold Star father -- has written about it extensively.
All 4 of FDR's boys served.
Neither Jenna, nor Barbara, nor Mary, nor Liz served.

Oh, so you finally admit that Obama was responsible for the death of thousands? I posted the same comment and people went hysterical on here.Feral wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 10:00 pm This is beyond sad. smfh. We've learned nothing. Nothing.

Re: Ugh
And one had to be very bad at reading people to not see it was bullshit from the start. Actually, a very well planned agenda to prolong wars that cannot be won and they have no intention of winning. It had nothing to do with helping other countries or democrazy.
