This is also kind of the point. The Patriots are still doing the same stuff they got knocked for. They just got caught. Who knows how many times they've done it since, or the severity of it.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 10:32 amWe also use terms like “organization” or “Patriots” too loosely. They obviously should not get a shred of the benefit of the doubt. But blatant, flagrant transgressions and blanket, tranparent denials are sort of the watchword of our moment, really.

The Bengals are 1-12. And no one in this thread knows what a production team is.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
I know far well more than you what a production team is.

It makes you wonder if/when the NFL is ever going to do something beyond just slapping them on the wrist.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 11:00 amThis is also kind of the point. Re: 2019 NFL Season
Well, they've lost draft picks and hundreds of thousands of dollars.
I don't consider that slaps on the wrist.
But funny enough, in this case, with their knowledge on how to beat the Bengals, they are actually helping the Bengals in the long run by strengthening/solidifying their draft position.

I just doubt that's what it was.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
It very well may have been a 'vetted' production team that was in a bidding process - which is what they'll point to.
But the business can be very chummy - with references coming from people you know.
It's easy to see how someone in the Pats organization could connect with the right company who would look the other way ( or even revel in doing it if they were that big of Pats fans ) when filming certain aspects of their 'Do Your Job' series.
Deliver the drive each week to the right people. Wipe the drive.
It's a bit of a stretch -- but I don't think it's that much a stretch for the Patriots.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
At the end of the day, though - if you're the Patriots, this is just a mistake that should be impossible to make (and it should be punished accordingly).

It makes sense that their otherworldly preparation turns out to be theft. Occam shaves with Gillette.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
Why would the pats need to spy on the 1-12 Bengals? If they are spying on the Bengals, they are spying on everyone.
Defense. Rebounds.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
Some good/important matchups this week
Chicago at Green Bay - Green Bay has struggled some. Chicago finding new life. GB wins by a TD.
Houston at Tennessee - Tennessee doing well and Houston has been inconsistent. First of 2 matchups over the last 3 weeks. Tennessee could sneak up and win division if they sweep the series. Tennessee wins by 3.
LA Rams at Dallas - Dallas is struggling lately. Rams had a nice game last week. They found Gurley again and he rewarded them with a nice performance. Cowboys/Eagles will win the East at .500 or below likely, but either will lose in first round to Seattle or San Fran. Rams win by 4.
Buffalo at Pittsburgh - Buffalo played with the Ravens for a while. Nice showing for them to show they are somewhat legit. Pittsburgh has gotten better as the year as progressed, and it doesn't matter who their QB is because their defense has been good. Chiefs should hope for a Steelers win because they want to face Steelers rather than Titans. Buffalo wins by 4.
Indianapolis at New Orleans - Monday Night game. Indy needs a win to stay relevant. New Orleans needs a win to stay in contention for a bye. New Orleans wins by 14.
Denver at KC - KC obviously needs a win to stay in the 3 seed and have a chance at the bye. Have to win out and have NE lose one game to get that 2 seed. Lock has some arm talent, but still a rookie in his 3rd start. Can't have him come back home and win. Chiefs win by 10.

The Jets ended up being 4-12 the season they had Spy Gate. Record doesn't mean shit to them.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 11:18 am The Bengals are 1-12. And no one in this thread knows what a production team is.

I know a large conspiracy here helps everyone sleep better at night, but it's just too many jumps with what is known to point to anything.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
I guess I just look at it differently - I think you have to punish the conduct, even if nothing happened. It's just too similar to something that was a fucking PROBLEM before, and the Patriots should be kept pretty damned tightly in their lane about things having to do with filming opponents.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 1:28 pmDivision opponent. At this point, because of their prior history the Pats don't deserve the benefit of the doubt especially when what they just got caught doing the same thing they did during the Spygate area.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
This is how you should look at it. They should have been the most careful team of all of them. Listened to a podcast by Terez Paylor and Charles Robinson at Yahoo Sports today. They're the most plugged in guys in the business and they even said it's bizarre because the Browns pressbox is kind of in the corner of the stadium. Not even straight across the sideline at the 50 yard line. So the cameras were focused on the sideline from a weird angle. And apparently really focused in on substitutions and hand signals after the play clock hit 15 seconds (when headsets cut off and adjustments are made by signals)jfish26 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:22 pmI guess I just look at it differently - I think you have to punish the conduct, even if nothing happened. Conspiracy theory. Pats doing what they can to beat the Bengals. Bengals get the worst record in league. Trade for Tom Brady because they're desperate for a QB. Pats get picks high up in the round. Maybe not the 1st overall pick, but the 33rd pick after they get a 2nd and a 4th for Brady. Obviously won't happen, but you never know with the Pats.
