Re: 2019 NFL Season
Plus it's widely know to the Yahoo guys and by many that filming the press box close to around game-time is a huge no-no. And also, how convenient that the Pats outsourced this film crew so they could pass it off.
Pats don't get any benefit of the doubt. The NFL should bring the hammer down because of the repeated action and the lame ass excuses afterwards.

The lawyerly thing to do is to analyze it separately. It's not the organization's guys and had nothing to do with the football side of things. There's already an admission that the conduct would be a violation, so you pay the small fine and everyone moves on except for the outraged AFC team fans.jfish26 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:22 pmI guess I just look at it differently - I think you have to punish the conduct, even if nothing happened. It's just too similar to something that was a fucking PROBLEM before, and the Patriots should be kept pretty damned tightly in their lane about things having to do with filming opponents.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 1:28 pmDivision opponent. The Jets ended up being 4-12 the season they had Spy Gate. Record doesn't mean shit to them.
I know a large conspiracy here helps everyone sleep better at night, but it's just too many jumps with what is known to point to anything.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
Except we're not talking about putting anyone in jail. We're talking about an organization that has committed very fucking serious integrity-of-the-game breaches before, now doing something that is some (perhaps considerably lesser) degree of wrong as, but in the exact same nature of, very very bad prior acts.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 4:04 pmThe lawyerly thing to do is to analyze it separately. Division opponent. Mangini.

You shouldn't analyze this separately from the prior bad acts. Specifically, if, say, the Vikings would get a $100,000 fine for doing this, then the Patriots should get something MUCH more severe.

Especially when it's the same owner, the same Coach/GM and same exact issue.

The punishment portion, fine, but analyze what actually happened here: it's not much, if anything.jfish26 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 4:43 pmExcept we're not talking about putting anyone in jail. Re: 2019 NFL Season
I'm not disputing that. It sounds like stuff that can probably be cobbled together from broadcast film anyway, substantively.
But I just don't think you can let that organization take even baby steps in the direction of the line.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
I think the fact they are an outlier for success in a highly competitive sport that has never seen this kind of dominance is highly suspect. How deep has been their obsession with tipping the scale? They have benefited mightily from slaps on the wrist. Like the Astros, I think the league better seriously investigate their culture and practices of deceit.

So arrest a convicted and released burglar if he walks into a jewelry store during business hours and looks around. Got it. Makes sense.jfish26 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:22 pmI guess I just look at it differently - I think you have to punish the conduct, even if nothing happened. How in the fuck did we mix NFL discipline and the Judiciary Branch?

8 minutes of video on the Bengals bench.
That was a documentary all right.

Hey Whitt, article on ESPN on why Tannehill breakout is the real deal. I'm not sure I'm convinced, but I do like having the Miami throwaway doing what he's doing until at least tomorrow.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
Tannehill seemed like the real deal at ATM. He benefits from a threatening running game. Perfect fit for him.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
I like Tannehill because he is a tough SOB.
The QB keeper a few weeks back and then the chase down tackle last week. Plays hard.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
And let's face it, there is a dearth of good quarterbacks available on the secondary market. Tannehill was always three-times better than Dilfer's replacement Denver over-paid for. I miss Flacco.
