Really like how Minnesota looked with their front 7. Offense did just enough to win. 49ers outperformed expectations all year and won some great matchups. Kind of slowed down at the end of the year. I think San Fran wins, but Minnesota covers. SF 24 Minn 20
Titans at Ravens (Bal -9) Saturday at 7:15
Tennessee will run the shit out of the ball. And as they proved on Saturday, doesn't necessarily mean they'll score points as they only scored 14 with all those rushing yards. Tennessee just destroyed NE up front on both sides of the ball. Baltimore has been fantastic all year. Lamar had an OK year last year, but was really bad in playoffs. They got Mark Ingram to help alleviate pressure on Lamar and to help in the running game. And it's been a huge help this year. Will be a physical game. Probably the best game of the weekend. Baltimore wins, but Tennessee covers. Bal 20 Tenn 17
Texans at Chiefs (KC -9.5) Sunday at 2:05
Texans down big to Buffalo early and looked out of sorts. Scored and then Watt got a sack and changed the game. Fuller been off and on all year, but they are much better with him, and he will likely play this week. Watt back helps their defense, but they are still below average on that side of the ball. Watson is a gamer and an outstanding player. Chiefs are healthy for first time in a while (Minus Thornhill, which is big loss but manageable) Mahomes has full allotment of weapons and they are clicking. Defense has been on a different level for a couple of months now. Probably best Chiefs defense in playoffs since mid-90s. Trying not to be a homer, but I think KC wins and covers. KC 31 Houston 20.
Seahawks at Green Bay (GB -4) Sunday at 5:40
Seattle played a boring but dominant game on Sunday. Seattle playing well in all facets of the game. Lynch being used as a power back and almost unstoppable at goal line. Wilson the best deep ball thrower in the game. Wilson and Rodgers have had some great matchups in their careers. Green Bay more reliant on running game then ever before. Defense has been solid and really good rushing the passer. Seattle OL still a weak spot of their team. Green Bay wins and covers. GB 27 Seattle 20.

How much of the Green Bay bad seasons are on Ted Thompson as GM compared to McCarthy. Because their talent level was shit outside of Rodgers.

Because I think it's easy to see what talent around the entire team can do. Mahomes goes down, Moore goes 1-1 with a close loss to #2 seed Green Bay and a win over Minnesota. Not because of Matt Moore, but because of the talent around him. McCarthy and Rodgers have never had the Chiefs level of talent on their team for the most part.

Sure, I think that's the optimist view. But, McCarthy still did not impress anywhere and consistently underperformed--those were not well coached teams.
You have to think that they could have gotten almost anyone, including current NFL head coaches.
Eh, I don't know. I don't think that's as big of a job as what most think it is. You have Jerry Jones meeting with media constantly, questioning things, pissing off players indirectly and always have him looking over EVERY MOVE. Garrett was in over his head and didn't mind it because he was underqualified for the job, but Jerry like him.
Yeah it's America's team, and the stadium is outstanding, but I think working for Jerry Jones is looked as a negative more so than ever before.

If Cowboys can keep Dak and Cooper then the barometer for McCarthy is playoffs.
You have that O-Line, a good defense on paper and top players at those key offensive spots, anything less next season is a fail.
Also, something I just saw on twitter that I saw..
Reid was looked as the same in Philly as McCarthy was in GB. Underachiever, choker, stale and all that. Reid needed a fresh start, he got it and is flourishing in KC with a young QB. Maybe McCarthy is the same.

Maybe if you asked the Philly fans. Reid was unemployed for about 8 minutes, best job available called him, and was well on his way to the HOF before KC.
Far cry from where McCarthy is at. This is retread city after other teams interviewed and passed.
I thought Jerry might go for Rhule or Riley but something tells me he wanted to go with the 'safe' choice in McCarthy. I never thought that Zimmer would be a fit for the circus that Dallas is.
Depends on who you believe but McCarthy claims he was never supported by Ted Thompson during his years in GB. Never had the 'players' to surround AR12. He is now walking into one of the more talented rosters in the league.

McCarthy was obviously the "win now" choice over the college guys. Zimmer would have been the same thing. The win yesterday changes things, but I don't think it would have taken much more than the Cowboys 2nd round pick to have Zimmer in Dallas next season. The Wilfs gave Zimmer the dreaded "100% support" statement before the New Orleans game.
Chiefs have played against 5 of the 7 remaining teams in the playoffs. Only teams that they didn't face were the 2 NFC West teams. Damn hard schedule there. Still went 12-4. With Mahomes missing 2+ games and being healthy for truly maybe 10 of those games.
For reference, Ravens also played 5, 49ers played 3 teams, Seahawks 3, Vikings played 3, Packers 3, Texans played 3 and Titans played 2.

Maybe I will do better with the divisional round games.
National pundits seem to love Titans physical style and the ‘old school’ feel they seem to have.
I’ve never been a huge fan of Lewan, as he has always played like a complete dumb ass in my opinion, either through bad holds, early jumps, or being ‘the enforcer’ at end of plays.
This said, since his post-game earlier this season where he took the blame and said he had to do better, and was obviously pissed at himself, his play has improved, as has my perspective of his potential.
I’m excited to see if line can move the Ravens like they did the Pats. Especially early, when the Ravens could jump up 14 early if execution not there on either side of ball.
Back to the Cowboys and the McCarthy hire.
I often wonder why teams who feel they are "elite" choose to hire a guy who was fired from his previous job. Why not get a guy who is a "hot commodity"?
Maybe it's not a bad hire per se but I feel it's far from being a great one.
