Political division amongst ourselves

Post by Deleted User 295 »

Will we ever recover from this presidency?

A large majority of people are no longer able to coexist politely with people from the opposite party. It's very sad.

I've never identified with a political party. But this is madness. Everyone is so rude to each other now.

The racist people on the republican side have always been easy to spot (especially after Obama)....but I was unaware how hateful so many dems could truly be until Trump came along. Borderline dangerously hysterical. Some of you hate people that aren't even Trump supporters because you think/assume they are because they don't lean left enough for your liking.

Maybe it's due to my age, but I never noticed the hatefulness surrounding politics until Obama and Trump.

I hope we can recover from this as a whole, because for the most part I don't think people are truly this hateful deep down inside. Families are being changed forever. I have family from Texas who hate Obama and love trump, and some of the things that come out of their mouths have forever changed the way I look at them. It's sad.

I hope we can learn to do better in the future.

Agreed. The guy who comes back to the site after his self imposed timeout promptly hurls personal insults at everyone in his wake, then thinks that the division is due to politics and our last 2 Presidents.

Social media and the ease in which people can be rude without consequence is the culprit. Illy likely doesnt speak to people in real life like he speaks to people here.

I didn't hurl insults at EVERYONE, mainly just you. Stop being dramatic.

My guess is you don't speak to people in real life like you do on here either. So welcome to the club.

True, but it has become more noticeably more visible in the last 20 years.

The division was nearly as bad with the last nincompoop. The difference was, those of us who didn't like the last nincompoop didn't throw nearly as big a fit as those who don't like the current nincompoop.

Is he really wrong though?

I remember plenty of stupid shit from the right during the Obama years. Plenty. But the never ending Trump meltdown is sort of unlike anything I've ever seen.

No but now ocial media has allowed Trump to manipulate and magnify those divisions for personal gain and the result has been a rapid expansion of those divisions. We are more partisan than before he arrived and there is more open hostility than before he arrived. It increased during Obama's terms and has taken another sharp uptick since Trump.

Exactly. It has been nonstop oUtRAge for more than three years now. It far eclipses anything that happened during Barry's eight years of incompetence.

And you're going to blame that on President Trump rather than on the media itself or the people posting on social media? By that logic, the division during Obama's administration was Obama's fault.

The difference to me is that 98% of the shit that people threw hissy fits about with Obama was silly BS while it seems like there are serious things that really do need to have people freaked out happening on a regular basis under Trump.

Yes, this has resulted in too many people freaking out over silly BS but still. The pure volume and frequency of alarmingly questionable actions under Trump is unsettling. And unfortunately, the people freaking out over the silly BS has resulted in too many people ignoring the people freaking out over the actually important stuff that should be freaked out over.

I’d offer a friendly reminder that Obama’s entire political career began as division during Trump’s administration, but I might have that backwards.

What you perceived as silly BS was serious to me, and what I now perceive as silly BS is serious to you. There's no difference aside from your position in the equation.

Just to clarify, this was an 8-year span when you didn't throw a lot of hissy fits? Just checking.
