KU evaluating options on Adidas contract

Post by NLowrider »

In a statement from Chancellor Douglas Girod and Athletic Director Jeff Long, KU said it did not have a timeline for making a decision on whether to sign a multiyear, multimillion-dollar contract extension with Adidas. KU and Adidas announced the pending extension days before allegations of the recruiting scheme were made public in September 2017.

Should KU stick it out with Adidas or move on?

i say unless a decision has to be made right away, they wait to see what comes out in the next trial

if nike is implicated, then i don’t think it would really matter

I'd stick it out with Adidas because they could be the first of the companies to get looked at by the government. Maybe not a great product, but I have to believe Nike and UA better watch out.

It's all about the Benjamins.

If all goes south for Nike and Addidas maybe Skechers can fill the void.

I have a question and I think Geezer's post on this thread might be the correct answer.
Jeff Long.....
Took a job knowing he would have to hire a new softball coach. Ok, no big thing but......
He took a job knowing that he would have a football program that blows and he would most likely have to conduct a coaching search and beg donors not to bail.
He took a job knowing that he would have a basketball program that could conceivably have to forfeit past wins, and could possibly land on probation.
He took a job knowing that he (and/or our Chancellor?) would have to make a decision on a 9 figure "apparel" deal in which the people we may be making the deal with had representatives that basically fucked us while helping us.
So.... Why did he take the job other than it's a "challenge"?
Seems like a shit load of shit to have to deal with right off the bat.

Actually I think it's more about the Grovers (Grover Cleveland is on the $1000 bill) or the Salmons (Salmon Chase on the $10,000 bill). Benjamin is on the $100's. Granted none of the bigger bills are being circulated anymore but they do exist.
