Oscars

Joker with 11 nominations.
I tend to wait til DVD/streaming release to watch these and I just saw Joker the other night.
I'd like to see 1917.

There's gotta be a better movie than Joker -- but as far as best actor, Phoenix will be tough to beat in my book.

Joker is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Might rival Dark Knight for best comic book movie all-time imho.

Ford vs. Ferrari was very good, but not great.

Same for the Irishman.

Still want to see once upon a time in hollywood, jojo rabbit, and 1917

The other best picture nominations don't appeal to me enough to even watch.
I only came to kick some ass...

Rock the fucking house and kick some ass.

It is tough for me to pick Joker or Once Upon A Time.

We've gone over this in the other movie thread, but Parasite was the best one, but won't win. As Bong Joon Ho said, it already won the non-local award.

I'm a big Tarantino guy, but Once Upon a Time fell about in the middle of his movies for me.

Tarantino has been on a downward slope for years.

But then, when you start with Reservoir Dogs, what other direction can you go?

Idk, Hateful Eight and Django were pretty dang good. It had been since Kill Bill, though.

Once Upon a Time seems too much like Inglorious, but better in areas

Yeah...but here's a guy working in a video rental store, planning to make his movie using a few friends and a 16mm camera. But then he manages to get Harvey Keitel interested, and then Tim Roth, Chris Penn, Michael Fucking Madsen, Steve Buscemi, and Steven Wright.

And then he makes probably the best independent film of all time.

Tarantino's films are hard to rate against each other for me.

If pressed:
Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
Inglorious Basterds
Once Upon a Time
Hateful 8
Django
4 Rooms

I'll just assume you meant to put True Romance at #2.
