I know you want it to be.
It's not there - and I want it to move further away from that.
I can only assume you mean that "college basketball is uncapped" - which it is: there is no limit on spending, just on who is allowed to get money.

In being uncapped, it is like baseball (and not like the other major American sports).

What's disgusting is that it's pretty predictable what would happen to college sports if schools could pay the talent:

You'd have multi-millionaire white guys stating the small market/school/donor base/etc. means that they can't compete for the best players year in and year out and would rather continue to get fat and happy.

And the fans would believe it, just like they do in baseball.

I'm not going to get into an argument over why college basketball is different than pro basketball.
You should be able to figure it out the differences.
It's like you said before - ah, nevermind.

Did...did anyone even make a comparison? Other than me saying that college basketball is not like pro basketball, in that there's not a cap on spending in college basketball?

A four-person committee of scientists told Major League Baseball that balls this year had less drag on average than in previous seasons, contributing to a power surge that resulted in a record number of home runs, AP's Jake Seiner reports.

The committee says it did not find evidence that MLB intentionally juiced balls. Inconsistencies were due to "manufacturing variability."

The balls are hand-sewn at Rawlings' factory in Costa Rica.

Scientists recommended MLB consider installing humidors at all 30 ballparks "to reduce the variability in storage conditions" and install atmospheric tracking systems in each stadium.

MLB plans to accept the recommendations...

Nothing says overthinking quite like; install atmospheric tracking systems in each stadium.

Penalties for Astros

1 year suspensions for GM Juhnow and AJ Hinch.
Losing both 1st and 2nd round picks for 2020 and 2021.
Fine of $5M

Maybe more.

Hardest the MLB has come down on franchise.

Going to be just as harsh for Cora in Boston according to Passan.

He was a bench coach in 2017 for Houston and arguably did the same thing in Boston in 2018 season.

Love the MLB is stepping up and delivering harsh penalties. This league has turned a blind eye to cheating (and just shitty business practices) for far too long.

I don't think the penalty was harsh enough.

$5 million is not even a paper cut for a business with annual revenues approaching $400mm, and franchise value approaching $2 billion. Losing a game manager is not a big deal, and losing the GM is also survivable (particularly when the GM was already very damaged goods already, reputationally speaking).

It should have been something more like $100 million, to be paid by way of contributions to community endeavors in AL West and playoff opponent cities.

Of all the things people overreact about that really aren't giving much of, if any, advantage (steroids, deflated footballs, untucked shirts, paying college basketball players), in comparison this is big time cheating. Changes games, series, maybe even champions.

Strip the ships and play the Royals comeback on a continuous 3-year loop on their jumbotron.

It certainly adds a twist to the whole "lordy, we can't punish any of the players" gambit.

Honestly, I'm not sure how MLB can punish Altuve and Bregman for...doing the things you already decided not to punish them for.

The best line from MLB, since it would be topical would be, ‘after further review’.
