OFFICIAL FIGHT FALL OUT (OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL)
Re: OFFICIAL FIGHT FALL OUT (OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL)
I hope the super bowl thread gets this entertaining. For very similar reasons would be ok with me.
Re: OFFICIAL FIGHT FALL OUT (OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL)
Nah, just reminiscing. I am going out to visit that roommate next week so combined with a weird, overly caffeinated night of having to be back at work babysitting an implementation, I got a little overly chatty. Believe it or not, I dont care. It's what happened.PhDhawk wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 7:44 amI think he cut and pasted most of that from a romance novel.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 7:02 amLet's be real, you weren't going to "pulverize" an army dude.twocoach wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 9:19 pm
Well in that case, here you go
I have been in two "fights" in my adult life. Both in my early twenties. The first was in a parking lot of a bar as I escorted a girl I was hooking up with to her car. Some dude, who I later found out was her ex-boyfriend, approached me and took a swing at me. I avoided that swing as well as the next six swings he took at me. I fended him off until the police officer who was in the parking lot by the entrance came over and arrested the guy. Since I was able to control myself despite being the adrenaline racing through at the time, I was not arrested with him and instead, spent the rest of the night having sex with that dude's ex-girlfriend. That was an exceptionally memorable evening of sex with all that adrenaline still rolling.
The second time, some drunk army guy was pissed that I punked him in a game of darts so bad that his girlfriend made fun of him. Again, he took multiple swings at me at me and again, I displayed a basic level of self control in a desire to not have to deal with the hassle and potential expense of any legal proceedings. I resisted the urge to clock the dumb, drunk motherfucker between his eyes despite the adrenaline and instinctual desire to pulverize the prick. His girlfriend thanked my roommate and I for not beating him up despite his attempts to drag me into a fight, bought us a pitcher of beer and we drank for the rest of the night for free. Not as fun as the previous incident but still a good night.
So there you go. Two separate examples how it is actually possible to have the opportunity, the provocation and the justification to get into a fight and still pass it up due to the application of a little self control.
And that poor little army kid was so drunk that it wouldnt have even been sporting to engage him in a fight. He was a mess.
Re: OFFICIAL FIGHT FALL OUT (OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL)
If Silvio doesn't pick up a chair this isn't on Good Morning America....KState isn't innocent, neither side is....but it's so weird to think that because they started it that is somehow an excuse for SDS actions, or that KState should be the 1 getting all the bad press.
It's just not how it works. Nobody really gives a shit who started it.
Now, I'm not saying SDS shouldn't have taunted and stood over him, but once you take it to that level where you're punking someone, then you forfeit the "victim card"...he could've taunted and still got out of the guys face before it went that far. I don't blame him for not doing that, but he could have. And then it never escalates either. The scenarios are endless.
My stance is that I was fine with EVERYTHING from both sides right up until the stool got picked up.
Stealing the ball down 20 with 5 seconds? I'm okay with it. You look like a bush league loser, but that's okay.
Blocking him and taunting after the bush league move? I'm okay with it. More than okay with it, in fact I think it's EXACTLY what you're supposed to do it sports when that happens.
The KState guy rushing over and pushing SDS because he was standing over the guy a little longer the needed? I'm okay with it. I think they all thought the game was over. Your team just got their ass beat, your teammate just did something stupid and got embarrassed by getting swatted, and now he's getting punked by your opponent standing over him. I'm okay with standing up for your teammate. Doesn't make it right, but I don't have a problem with it.
Kansas players rushing over to defend their teammate who is being pushed/surrounded by members of the other team? I'm okay with it. You've got to defend your teammates.
95%+ of basketball fights consist of only pushing and shoving. These guys are the worst punchers known to mankind. Nothing lands. That fight would've been nothing without the chair....it would have gotten some headlines for spilling into the crowd, but without injuries to a fan it would have been a 1 sportscenter cycle type highlight. The stool changed the fight into something else that got a lot of attention.
And Illinois player stomped on an opponent and got ejected in the game running on ESPNU at the same time. It got very little attention. Fighting during sports happens. The chair made it a sideshow experience that got the attention of even non sports fans. I'm not mad at SDS. I get why it happened. And honestly I truly feel that he had no intention of using it, he just wanted to look like a bad ass and/or scare the guys they were fighting. SDS is no Miles Garrett.

spoken like someone who has never been punched or punched someone.
They've always got a punchers chance. If he's sober enough to attempt to throw darts at a dart board then there's a chance he can catch you with a okidoke and lay your ass out. Never underestimate your opponent.

In fact after the season ends it won't be brought up again until kstate visits AFH again.

My other advice: at your age, if you haven't been in a fight yet, don't start now. It's not a meaningful feather to have in your cap... and after you turn 30 it's sort of trashy to fist fight....plus bruises hurt much worse and it takes longer to heal at an advanced age....not to mention it would be awkward sitting in a business meeting trying to explain a black eye.

Do they not understand the hypocrisy?
Need clarification of that?
They are guilty of focusing more on what they perceive are negatives than positives.
Think about that for a second. Or don't.
Re: OFFICIAL FIGHT FALL OUT (OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL)
My wife thought Silvio picked up the stool as a shield. Which is probably true. At least it stopped the sucker punching. And it was almost all KSU doing what they do without a plan or leadership.
Re: OFFICIAL FIGHT FALL OUT (OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL)
Here's the thing: even if you assume that Silvio was going to use that chair to kill everyone not wearing a Kansas jersey, the fact is that this happened in front of the KState bench, with the entirety of that bench emptying, except for the coaches. Dick Vitale is wondering where the coaches were. That's half a good question. We KNOW where our coaches were, running down the court to stop a fight, grabbing stools from Silvio's hands, flying through the air with the greatest of ease, etc. But where the fuck were Squeaky and the gang? Who was keeping their players from going nuts?
Best I can tell, Silvio and the chair did more to stop the fighting than Squeaky did. That and 130 lb. SuperCase.

I found another angle that I don't think has been shared of Case's role in the fight.TDub wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 11:17 pmGood lord just stop. Shut up and stop.twocoach wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 9:49 pmThey did. The first was at a bar called Crocodile Rocks up at the north end of Colorado Springs. It was a cheesy dance club at the time but I didnt care. She liked dancing and I liked her.
The second was at an Irish bar called McAllister's Pub that was in downtown Colorado Springs. It had good beer on tap, a bartending staff who poured generous drinks to the regulars, was normally pretty quiet and had two real dart boards, which was hard to find at a bar.
I will be as violent as necessary but neither of those situations necessitated violence. Jails and courts are full of guys who couldn't resist the primal urge to let their testosterone take over their brains or who didnt want to look like like wussies to other knuckledraggers and chose violence when they didnt need to.
I like my money, my face and my freedom and dont feel like risking any of those just to try took like a badass.
Also, youre still wrong about case. Watch the angle Soklous provided.
*edit: i responded before reading the rest of the thread i see you finally admitted your error. Im still leaving this here to remind you that youre the failure. Not the flying Case.
Hope this clears things up

But here’s my response to geezer that also addresses you:
Sure, Silvio’s staredown was unsportsmanlike. But the recourse for k state is you get technical free throws. The recourse is NOT clear the bench and jump the guy staring.

Re: OFFICIAL FIGHT FALL OUT (OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL)
And I agree with ALL of that. But that's just an exercise in pinning blame. Now we're talking about perception and KU clearly got the shit end of the shit in that department because of that stool.ousdahl wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 11:27 amI was gonna reply to geezer’s post then saw yours. The fact of the matter is that we live in the overblown, sensationalist, social media world now. The picture of DeSousa with that damn stool over his head will be all that many people envision when this incident is discussed.
People in mass are in essence a bunch of toddlers who expect everyone else to act like adults while they are allowed to continue to act like toddlers. When they see the KSU guy respond to DeSousa's stepover, they are OK with because they think like all these "bro, did you even play sports or get in a fight" dopes on here. They relate to it. They at least claim that they would have done the same thing.
No one relates to picking up a damn bar stool and wielding it as a potential weapon. The vast majority of regular folks see that and go "whoa, that's over the line".
Re: OFFICIAL FIGHT FALL OUT (OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL)
The optics of both phan bases feverishly attempting to spin control this in their favor, and the other guys disfavor, is equally as unsavory as the incident itself. Based on this, no one is to blame.
Re: OFFICIAL FIGHT FALL OUT (OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL)
Can’t believe no one has attempted to blame DT.

Meh, it's done. Thank god Zion had his opening night on ESPN last night to get us out of their news cycle.
On to Tennessee. Anyone gonna do a Know Your Pho? Let's move off this incident.
