Even 27-24 is under. Which is my ballpark prediction--Chiefs winning drive falls short.jfish26 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 12:07 pmI think the key to the O/U is...KC's defense, and how the game starts. The Chiefs have shown not just a willingness, but a desire and an ability to play offense slowly and efficiently. If the Chiefs play the game from the front, I could see a low-key throttling like 27-16 being very much in play.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 11:16 am SF will play defense with their offense. Over 54 sounds high.
But, as I've said in this thread, it's hard to bet against Mahomes.
This matchup to me is best team vs. best player.
If it's close (or the Chiefs are playing from behind), you'll get everything the Reid/Mahomes combo has got, and it could easily turn into a game in whatever segment of 10s (30s, 40s, 50s, etc.) SF can push it into.

Of all things, it's hard to see it ending with the clock running out on a would-be Chiefs' game-winning drive, except in the case they get the ball at the 20 with like 0:17 to go.
(And, in that scenario and score, what would have happened is that SF would have run like 8:22 off the clock to pull ahead.)

Yeah, true. 28-24 then. 4 just seems like so much more than 3.

Just came across my phone: Chris Jones, I'm 1000% ready to play every snap.
I suspected this would be the case. He seemed pretty stable for the 2nd half last week.

Defense. Rebounds.

99 is famous. The corn comment probably went viral.

Since you aren’t getting your shirt till the 3rd, should prolly ask him if he can get something to you quicker. I recommend game worn.

Re: KC Chiefs v San Fran
It seems like the Chiefs, barring any crazy weird injuries during the bye week like Jones had before Texans game, will be completely healthy and ready to go. 49ers seem to be healthy as well.
Chiefs rushing offense vs 49ers rushing defense: Advantage 49ers. Chiefs can get yards if needed, just don't think they'll run much. And when they do, it'll be for shorter yardage scenarios. Williams has been good when healthy, and Mahomes has been really good when it calls for it.
Chiefs passing offense vs 49ers passing defense: Advantage Chiefs. I mean, duh. Sherman has been great, but the Chiefs have 5 weapons in their passing game, and that doesn't count Mahomes. Chiefs can pass all over this team.
49ers rushing offense vs Chiefs rushing defense: Advantage 49ers. Although Tennessee a better rushing offense and Chiefs shut them down, 49ers use motion and angles to get things working for them. Tough to stop when they get going.
49ers passing offense vs Chiefs passing defense: Advantage Chiefs. Chiefs passing defense has been pretty great this year. Breeland and Ward have been good out wide and Mathieu/Fuller/Sorensen have been good as well. 49ers have a couple of weapons, but Garrapolo is barely above average. But he can make plays.
Special Teams: Chiefs probably have the better K/P combination, but Chiefs have had an up and down year in terms of results. Blocked punts, kicks, dropped snaps, fumbled returns, but have caused some things as well. Hardman has changed games lately with kick returns. Chiefs have the edge as long as the game stays clean and they don't give up any big plays.
Coaching: Shanahan is probably the best play caller in the NFL. Reid is right there as well. 49ers defense is fast and physical and it takes after their DC. But Spags has been a good addition for the Chiefs. He's aggressive and makes some outstanding adjustments as the game goes on. Reid has been there before (albeit a long time ago) and Shanahan just there as an assistant. Advantage to the Chiefs, but barely.
I am excited for the game to get here. It's going to be a tough 10 days. But next week will go fast as the team is in Miami and doing all their media stuff and we'll be consumed with everything from that.

Kickoff return takes longer than 5 secs.

Yeah. It was later correct to something like 16 seconds.
But still an astonishing number considering the slow starts they’ve had.

I read that you can get 100-1 odds that the Chiefs trail 28-3.
You have to be an absolute degenerate gambler to bet that.

Only wagers I have on the Super Bowl are squares in two square pools - and an entry in an office prop bet pool.
Same thing I've done for the past 10 years or so.

Can’t remember if I posted this or not, but I put $50 on KC to win the Super Bowl back in October at +1100.
Only bet I’ve placed on the game so far. Will probably do some prop bets the day of the game

It’s been a somber 30 hours or so for seemingly all who follows sports. And for those that do not.
We have all reacted to Kobe’s death in one way or another for reasons and remembrances that are our own.
But most of you here are also fans of the Chiefs. I hope this thread picks back up steam moving closer to Sunday, and that you all experience the rest of the build up with anticipatory nervousness and joy.

Kobe never really animated me much one way or another since he skipped college. I was impressed by his toughness against the Celtics. The Superbowl will be a great break for the country.
