Yeah. Kind of like those buffoons who jumped the Royals 1st base coach in early 2000's. The Royals team jumped on those guys and beat them up pretty good and it was in just a few seconds from the time of attack to them getting there.

If the roles were reversed, I highly doubt most of you would have spent the last 72 hours convincing the world that it was the right stuff.
Re: OFFICIAL FIGHT FALL OUT (OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL)
If the roles were reversed, you'd be the smart one on the board.
Instead of being...well...you.

Roles would never be reversed because Kansas is never tries to steal the ball down 20 with 5 seconds to get a cheap score at the end.

I don’t know the exact terms of the law in ‘real life’, but I’m pretty sure two parties get involved in a scrum, and one goes from fists to a knife, and steps towards the scrum, that person has then escalated the scrum to a new level, and would trump the original instigators intent.
That depends. If, for example, I can make the case that I feared for my life from the previous escalation -- i.e. a guy punching me -- then the law generally gives me leeway not just to respond in kind, but to escalate beyond that to protect myself.
Not a perfect example, but think Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman.

Hey, I'm with you in all that. I have ZERO issue with standing over him. I wouldn't have even had an issue with a hard foul where he didn't even attempt to block the ball.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 10:00 amHere's the larger point: whether it's Silvio, Teahan, Dok, Baby Jay or Jeremy Case, the game is over. It doesn't matter who dribbles out the last 3.4 seconds. Silvio just so happened to come up with the ball (because of the doucher full court press).IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 9:55 amRight after the rebound there were 2 Jayhawks holding the ball and the defenders had retreated (at least a bit)...Silvio refused to let go of it, our guard even looked confused, and then he dribbled up into the trap.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 9:52 am
I definitely blame that on Kansas State and squeaks. They're in a full-court press down 23, denying our guards the ball. Silvio, not wanting to get the 10 second dribbles across the line, sees 3 seconds left, game's over minus any bush league monmouth/tater stuff.
Also, that's assuming Teahan can protect the ball better than Silvio can, and that is a very large assumption.
But yes....playing defense AT ALL under those circumatances is against the etiquette of the game.
Not a single player can really prevent doucher mcdoucherton action: Monmouth pulled the move against Enaruna. Squeaks was already mid blow-by handshake with Bill.
The only way you can stop douche moves like this is to stuff their bullshit dunk attempt all the way to Angola and then stand over them like a rock star.
I also don't have an issue with the KState guy standing up for his teammate who was getting punked.
Picking up the stool was stupid as fuck though. Regardless of all the other nonsense.
It wasn't a street fight. He didn't need the stool for protection. Bad decision, made in a split second, during a "fight".
It seriously shouldn't be this big of a deal.
Re: OFFICIAL FIGHT FALL OUT (OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL)
Without the stool SDS gets maybe 2 games. No punches were landed.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 10:08 am Gotta remember too, lots of KU fans wanted that kstate twerp who rushed the floor and bumped into Jamari suspended from school, slapped with a misdemeanor and more. It's all about perspective and who you root for.
Silvio would have been fine and suspended maybe 6-8 games, until he picked up the chair. That made it impossible for it to be anything less than 10 games. If it was reversed, I think I'd feel the same way as I do now.

Elijah doing the same exact thing to ISU? Both plays were the exact same. KU had possession and should have just dribbled out the clock in both cases.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 10:44 amOther than Brannen Greene...NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 10:36 am Roles would never be reversed because Kansas is never tries to steal the ball down 20 with 5 seconds to get a cheap score at the end.

I think Bill was a lot more OK with EJ's than Brannen's. Remember that Bill was fighting off old corn donors in Iowa at the same time. EJ also had the biggest fuck you game of all time while those hayseeds were raining down racist chants--they even had people get arrested for their behavior at that game.
Brannen's move was immediately called bush league by Self. But, the best part in all of this is that the taters cried about Brannen's for years. Even Mr. 1-10 against KU, Barry Brown himself.

The optics of SDS and the chair has skewed this thing totally against KU. Have had several conversations with associates who know I am pro KU. All went basically the same way....what the hell was that with the KU ball player and the chair. None knew the whole story and when explained the chair became lest significant but unfortunately the chair is the story.
Re: OFFICIAL FIGHT FALL OUT (OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL)
I don't think there should have been any punishments...shit like that happens in the heat of the moment...no one got hurt; move on and continue to dislike one another. All the boomers talking about how embarrassing the "fight" was and how SDS should be banned from college basketball are just pussies who don't remember what it's like to be young and full of piss and vinegar (and/or KU haters).

Nope, we just drill a 3 pointer at the buzzer.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 10:36 am Roles would never be reversed because Kansas is never tries to steal the ball down 20 with 5 seconds to get a cheap score at the end.
Defense. Rebounds.
Re: OFFICIAL FIGHT FALL OUT (OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL)
100% agree. Every single person who has brought it up with me has approached it exactly the same. No clue what happened but they saw a KU guy with a stool over his head.hartjack8 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 11:36 am The optics of SDS and the chair has skewed this thing totally against KU. Re: OFFICIAL FIGHT FALL OUT (OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL)
Sometimes it’s a good play. Sometimes it ain’t. Just depends where your fandom falls. If your team did it, it’s a good play. If their team did it, it ain’t.

It's weird to me because the people saying how embarrassing it was and he should be banned have typically been the same generation as the people saying how soft basketball has gotten and wish they would go back to being more physical and not all the flopping.lobster wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 1:38 pmI like your way of thinking.InfiniteJ wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 12:31 pm I don't think there should have been any punishments...shit like that happens in the heat of the moment...no one got hurt; move on and continue to dislike one another.
