Jayhawks in the NBA

Post by randylahey »

I don't think we have an NBA thread specifically for jayhawks yet? opposed to just NBA in general. like over on the .net

Looks like we have Embiid, Wiggs, the twins, Josh Jackson, Oubre, Selden, Mason, Svi, Devonte, Diallo, BMac (Billy preston) all listed on rosters. Might be a lot of highlight material

I have decided to appease randy, I will post the NBA Jayhawks game stats on this thread.
randy - Just to give you a heads up if you were not aware, there is a lot of NBA Jayhawks stuff on the NBA 2018 thread - including the tweet you provided above. My guess is some people will continue to post Jayhawk/s related things on that thread.

Games played 10/26/18....
MCMorris - 30 min, 5-10 fg, 4-5 3pt, 10 reb, 1 ast, 21 points. Team best +16.
Svi - 12 min, 2-3 fg, 2 reb, 1 ast, 4 points.

I know it's super early but my guess is there is no one else averaging 19.5 minutes a game who is only shooting 12.5% - like Svi is.

From now on, I am not going to list everyone's assists, blocks, rebounds, etc. every day unless I feel they are noteworthy and/or are considerable in terms of quantity.
Too time consuming. SORRY!

I was worried Marcus would see a much reduced role this year with Hayward coming back (on top of the emergence of Tatum, Brown, Rozier)....that hasn't been the case, and truthfully he fits better with the 2nd unit for the Cs in the role as scorer.

I still can't believe the twins didn't make a final 4. Fucking VCU. Aside from their off court (and some on court) issues, those 2 a natural leaders imo, especially marcus. You can see it throughout the course of a game with how the Celtics players interact and respond to him, even the players that are "better". I know/understand why some people dislike them, but I love them.

Illini - I know someone who had first hand experiences with Marcus as an NBA player.
Said he was often batshit crazy. Usually really funny but sometimes just flat out batshit crazy. Most guys ate it up but a couple didn't care for it.
My guess is fatherhood has given him a new perspective on how important it is for him to focus - and it's a great thing he's on a team now where the guys actually give a shit about winning - and they and he know they have a chance to do something special (make the Finals).

Josh got the start the last 2 games with Booker out and played awful in both games. I'm really surprised it's taking him so long to adjust to the NBA.

Illini - With all due respect, I have to ask - "it's taking him so long to adjust to the NBA"?
I suppose you must not be thinking about last season when in his last 10 games he scored, 22, 28,22,27,18,13,18,17,15,and 36 points.

I suppose I could point out that during some of those games they weren't playing their starters....or that they only won 1 of those games....but I'm not trying to pile on him. He had a good rookie year. He averaged 13pts. Started a lot of games.....

Mostly I was referencing how at times he looks lost and other times he's completely out of control (his turnover numbers reflect that). No josh bashing here. I really liked him at KU and watch his as often as I can....I just thought he'd be a little better than he's been so far (not that's he's never had huge games, because he has, not that he's been bad, because he hasn't).

This is not an excuse for Josh, because he's got to fix this, but Phoenix is not a good environment for Josh. I think his temperament is better suited to a good team.
