Anwar al-Awlaki says hi.

Or he would, if he could.

Additionally, I won't assign the entirety of The City of God, but you could bother to read a little bit about the ideas about justice and war that were so much a part of Western culture by the 5th century that a guy from North Africa felt comfortable writing them down.
Well, Augustine was from North Africa, but I would not agree that he was espousing ideas that were commonly accepted at that time. Just 75 years earlier, the largest group of 'christians' were the 'gnostics' who, with the help of Constantine, the Bishops at Alexandria managed to eradicate along with most of their scripture. He was more like Mike Leach: trying to incorporate the spread offense in christianity.

Ah. Here we confront the difference between holding ideals and actually living up to them. As you well know, the Church has long suffered from its inability to manage the latter.

Nevertheless, the ideas Augustine incorporated into his notions of just war did not spring, like Athena, fully formed, from his forehead.

Trump is a business man who runs America like a business..., is an insult to businesspeople everywhere.

A great facility. Incredible. No plant like it. It’s right at the top. The Eighth Wonder of the World.

Long before his Tuesday night visit to Milwaukee, those were some of the words and phrases President Trump used
over the past two-and-a-half years to describe the future Foxconn Technology Group campus in Mount Pleasant. He gushed over the original 2017 deal, playing up his role in it and leaning on it in his praise of former Gov. Scott Walker during the 2018 midterm election campaign.

But the President dedicated exactly zero words to the troubled development when he stopped in Milwaukee, just 30 miles north of the site, Tuesday night for a campaign rally — a 90-minute speech in which he instead covered a range of other topics including low-flow sinks, toilets and showers. He also didn’t mention Foxconn when he made an April 2019 campaign stop in Green Bay.[/b]

“We could assume that the reason he didn’t talk about it is because it is spiraling out of control,” said Mount Pleasant resident Kim Mahoney, who fought an eminent domain claim against her house in the Foxconn development area.

If there is a war for global tech talent, right now Canada is winning — and the U.S. may be losing its edge. Toronto saw the biggest growth in technology jobs of any North American city over the past five years, outpacing San Francisco, New York and Seattle. Vancouver also made the top five.

The tech industry across Canada is booming. And one of the biggest reasons is U.S. immigration policy. The Trump administration has made it harder for high-skilled workers to get visas. It also has blocked entrepreneurs from some majority-Muslim countries altogether under the travel ban, which it's moving to expand to more countries...

I don't understand why anyone would NOT want to live in San Francisco.

Or Seattle.

That, or the human feces in the streets and on the sidewalks. Turns out, you can only pay so much in taxes before you can no longer afford housing. Weird.

San Fran has some cool spots and looks fantastic in pictures, but my parents were astonished how many homeless people there were and how agressive they were. My dad said that sitting outside at restaurants, even very nice restaurants fwiw, was unbearable because the beggars would walk right up and ask for money. Even said a few complained when turned down and made comments about "well how are you affording this nice meal" types of things.

was gonna post this in response to the drug tested convo, but i’ve read a number of times that even though the US has some of the best programmers/hackers, we’re often steps behind others because the feds require drug testing and many of the best in business partake

Yes to both.

Also have past and current students from those areas who plan to remain in Kansas after graduation because of the homelessness, crime, and ridiculous cost of living.

I don't really think my parents would lie about their experience there.

There are a lot of places I'd rather go to before I feel the need to check SanFran off the list.

Have you been there?
