Royals
Re: Royals
Yes, Fish. I was a bit torked that the money was not invested more in players, but he did right by everyone. Gordo to sign for one last year too.

Alex Gordon back on a 1 year $4M deal. Waived his 10 and 5 clause so he can be traded, but has to get $500,000 assignment bonus if traded.

Re: Royals
Bring it on. I'd love it.
And I'm not even from KC. But it would make games so much more well attended.

Re: Royals
I think it makes it easier on out-of-towners, too.
Re: Royals
I’ve completely come around on the location of our stadiums being shit. I’ve been to enough downtown stadiums to appreciate the life they bring.
BUT, where the fuck is the Crown and the fountains? Deal breaker. Not gonna happen.

They'll be there. This first stuff is just to show the city and public (voters), that it logistically works.
Re: Royals
Fair enough. But still a bad approach in my book. You play that video with a fly over fiber optic lit fountains and a glowing crown in the skyline... you got boner city.

There could have also been at least one reference to helmet nachos.

I'll wait for the traffic study.

Re: Royals
That’s fucking dope. Hope it happens. Don’t really care about fountains and the crown. Fine with them either way
Re: Royals
I suspect it's a nearly-foregone conclusion that baseball will be downtown within a decade's time.
The question - that matters a lot! - is exactly where. I worry some that they'll try to build it with a sort of pre-packaged entertainment area (not unlike Truist/Battery Park in Atlanta), somewhere downtown-adjacent, rather than just sort of drop it in (like Target Field/1st Ave./Warehouse District in Minneapolis).

Either way, it's moving from Raytown.
Re: Royals
I second Hawk on fountain and crown.

I read that as Q conceding that tax dollars will help fund.
Re: Royals
It's going to be a hell of a thing when there's a billion dollar stadium that everyone's late to games at because they're fixing flats on the side of the road.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 9:26 am I read that as Q conceding that tax dollars will help fund.
Re: Royals
Totally agree. A downtown stadium can easily be fucked up. If done correctly, they can change the entire dynamics of a city. Especially a baseball stadium that has 80+ events during the best weather of the year.jfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 6:24 amI suspect it's a nearly-foregone conclusion that baseball will be downtown within a decade's time.
