I think the main difference between the two fights was the girls one was more of a "they can't suspend us all" situation where EVERYONE was throwing punches. The KU/KSU one knew who the main people involved were.

Also, there's no way you believe for even a second that Silvio wrote even a single word of that apology. You can't be that naive. That's almost as bad as the people who actually believe players haven't been getting cash under the table for decades, lol.

Why couldn't SDS write that apology? Do I think he wrote it without help and advice? Of course not. Nobody in our program, not even Bill Self, would release a public statement without advice of others. But I absolutely believe he was involved in, and truly meant, what was said in that release.

Self said that Silvio wrote the note during the sleepless night following the incident. Said no one told him to, he came to Self on his own accord the following morning and said he would like to release it. Why anyone is crying conspiracy for that is head scratching, but also quite the norm now.
I am, I said.

i have no reason to believe that SDS didn’t write the statement, or that it wasn’t vetted ahead of time by Self and others

I am by know means saying the words in the letter aren't true. I believe him that he was sorry and embarrassed. I'm just not convinced that the statement that was released was the same one he brought to Self the next morning, especially when it wasn't released until late that evening. It's no secret that when "statements" are released, all the way from players to ADs, that someone in the PR department writes them more often than not.

And what is Self supposed to say? "He came in saying he wanted to apologize, so we had someone write a little something for him to put on twitter."

I think ND gets it. Others don't? That's the "head scratcher" to me.
Although, I might say someone "edits"/"assists" them instead of writes them - but I'm confident often someone writes them too.

I dont doubt there was some review by the appropriate parties. But nothing suggests to me that he didnt actially write it. Its not like it was such poetic and eloquent that an average college student couldn't have penned it.

There are people who personally "assist" athletes in producing "damage control" statements - and by my being somewhat skeptical that Silvio ORIGINALLY wrote those exact words and used that exact grammar, I'm just fine being labeled silly by others.
Heck, no doubt I am silly so the title fits.
I feel the main thing we should be focusing on is that Silvio probably did feel extreme remorse and realized he made a big mistake. No matter if he "penned" that exact statement or not.
Time to move on to bigger and better things yet?
I say yes.

They are ghost writers. Not a new thing.

Maybe some here don’t believe in ghosts?

Thoughts and prayers.

why do you assume that he isn’t eloquent enough to craft at least most of that statement?

like Embiid and Dok, the dude speaks multiple languages, and has been in the states for what, 3 years now attending a public university

Why do you assume I assume he's not "eloquent enough" to "craft" at least most of that statement?
I never stated that in any way, did I?
I "assume" he didn't write those exact words and use that exact grammar because I "assume" 95% (or more) of the time if a student athlete actually does write their own statement that will go out to the media/public, that athlete has someone read their statement and edit it before it goes out to the media/public.
As I said, schools sometimes/often/usually have someone "assist" student athletes with their statements.
Now perhaps if Silvio had hadn't posted it on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, without first saying - "I’m sorry for my actions last night, please read this" followed by posting a "prepared" statement, I might be less assumptive. I might not be. I don't really know and I can't say for sure.
From what I have seen and heard, Silvio is indeed articulate, and I might even say "eloquent".
I have no reason to doubt he can write well and express himself well.
I have some doubt that he wrote those exact words and used that exact grammar without at least a little "assistance". That's all.
If he he used those words and grammar 100% on his own - terrific. If he didn't - terrific.
I'm more focused on the fact that I believe he is genuinely sorry/remorseful and has learned a hard lesson that included a harsh punishment. My guess is no one on here is questioning why I believe that - because it's a KU board. If we were talking about some K-State kid then by all means people would question why I believe it.
I get it.

I read Silvio as remorseful from the instant he turned around with the chair and saw all his coaches yelling at him to stop.
