NCAA 19-20
Re: NCAA 19-20
I would think KU fans would understand that teams from "inferior" conferences can and often do beat teams from "superior" conferences in the tournament.
Funny how when KU loses it's, "the tournament is a crap shoot" but when teams from "inferior" conferences lose it's because they are from a shitty conference and were not tournament tested.
This season the Zags played teams from the ACC, Pac 12, Big 10, and SEC. Yes, they play in an "inferior" conference but please spare me the "they aren't ready for tournament play" narish.
I could be wrong but my guess is Bil Self would tell you "inferior conference/s" teams Bucknell, Bradley, Northern Iowa, VCU, and Wichita State were ready for the tournament when they played us. At least as ready as his Big 12 team/s were.
Am I supposed to add this here?

Gutter - who have the more tourney wins per team, the big conferences or the small ones?
Re: NCAA 19-20
I am 99% confident it's the bigger more talented ones with the higher athletic budgets - who also get more teams in than the smaller conferences.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 11:27 am Gutter - who have the more tourney wins per team, the big conferences or the small ones?
That being said, the smaller ones seem to hold their own. Define that how you choose.
I wouldn't bet on Gonzaga to make this year's Final Four if I could only choose one team but I surely am not going to discount their chances simply because they play in the WCC.

Re: NCAA 19-20
I agree. It seems pretty fair to at least doubt their chances because of being ill-prepared.
Every year, it's ridiculously hard to tell how good they are. And they continuously fall short of the big boy stuff.

Re: NCAA 19-20
They’ve made all of one final four despite how many top seeds?
Re: NCAA 19-20
Newton - You are you and I am I. I respect your opinion. I don't expect you to respect mine. All I'll add is fool me once....... I and most others have been fooled MANY times by the success of a smaller conference team's success in the tournament.
CNB - "Ill prepared" meaning what? That they haven't played a BIg 10, ACC, Pac-12, and SEC team like I stated that have? Or meaning that they play in a lousy conference?
I agree it's hard to tell how good they are. It's hard for me to tell how good this season's KU team is.
04-05 team was ranked #1 at one point and my guess is you (like I) thought they were pretty darn good if not great. How did that work out for us?
To say Gonzaga continuously falls short may be true but I feel it's also kind of harsh. I wouldn't say making the Elite 8, Sweet 16 (as an 11 seed), National Championship game, Sweet 16, and Elite 8 in their past 5 seasons is too shabby. In fact, many would say it's better than what Big Boy conference KU accomplished the past 5 seasons.

Re: NCAA 19-20
They've been a top 4 seed something like 10 times in the last 20 years.
And made it to the second weekend only 9 times out of those 20 years.
Not great, Bob.

Oh, thanks.
Do you have their seed history handy?
How many other top (say 2-4) seeds have they had?

Re: NCAA 19-20
KU plays in a top conference every year and wins it 99% of the time--I'd also venture a guess that KU's SOS hasn't been below like 25 since Self got here. All of KU's top seeds are earned. Gonzaga's are more speculative.Grandma wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 1:15 pmCNB - "Ill prepared" meaning what? That they haven't played a BIg 10, ACC, Pac-12, and SEC team like I stated that have? You're just arguing something different here: no one has said that a team from a small conference will NEVER make the Final Four. Or that Gonzaga can't this year. No one has said that a 1 seed from a Power 5 will ALWAYS make the Final Four.
As for the constant KU reminders: I'm perfectly fine sleeping at night knowing we have unperformed as a 1 seed under Self. That's fair. So has Gonzaga in their history.

Surprised by some of those. Granted, pre-2012 we had unbalanced Big 12 schedule.

Re: NCAA 19-20
They stunk. Losing Dok really hurt, but they were so so bad. Lots of shit going on too with that team. From Silvio missing the year, to LaGerald just having a weird year, Dedric having issues with Self during times when the team struggled, Udoka getting injured and Grimes being a complete bust.
