NCAA 19-20
Re: NCAA 19-20
Grimes wasn’t a complete bust, but def didn’t live up to the billing.
The even bigger busts may have been the transfers who averaged double digit points at other schools but couldn’t even crack the rotation here.
And it sounds strange, but while Lagerald had a weird year, one could also argue his year went about as well as anyone could have expected.
Loosing Dok was the death blow. And I think we woulda kept the streak going if we at least had Silvio.

It was a perfect storm of fail.
Yet we still did better than 95% of all D1 schools did last year.

I sure thought so at the time, based on what he'd flashed in 2017-2018. But, woof, now I'm not so sure!ousdahl wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 2:53 pm Grimes wasn’t a complete bust, but def didn’t live up to the billing.

Not everyone is good at math, so I want to point out that you averaged our SOS rankings. Which is not the same as saying there are 27 teams who've had tougher schedules in that period of time. My guess is an average SOS of 28 over those 15 years would place us in the top 5, if not top overall.pdub wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 1:34 pm SOS

Also it's pretty remarkable how many times since 2012 ( 7! ) that we've had a top 5 toughest schedule.

Re: NCAA 19-20
The end result was a product of still benefiting from good wins in November. Full strength all year, that team was as good as any. If you had no Dok and no Vick from the get go, you're looking at a year comparable to UNC's this season. No way did the team that entered the tourney deserve a 4 seed.
Re: NCAA 19-20
I didn’t say that 27 teams had tougher schedules. I just said we average the 28th SOS which yes, might be one of the highest.PhDhawk wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 4:07 pmNot everyone is good at math, so I want to point out that you averaged our SOS rankings. A had a longer response than this but, at the very least last year, he woulda been an upgrade over Mitch. Just like was as a half semester freshman the year before.jfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 3:07 pmI sure thought so at the time, based on what he'd flashed in 2017-2018. Re: NCAA 19-20
He's shown me nothing this year to make me believe he'd have been an upgrade over Mitch or effective playing alongside Dedric.
He looked good as a lone big surrounded by Graham Newman Svi and Vick. I think it's safe to say that he greatly benefitted from those players and he hasn't been nearly as good without them.

Not sure who I want to win/lose the Heel/Devil game.
