There are a load of bubbles and problems that are about to burst. The pension crisis could spark the next major recession. The housing is about to collapse again, as shown by their move to cut interest rates 3 times in 2019. There will likely be 3 more rate cuts in 2020, as Trump wants them to go to zero. In addition, there's record auto loan debt and defaults and housing debt is almost as high as 2007. These people buying homes in California right now are going to regret it in the near future. You'll be much better off buying in the midwest right now, as you wouldn't lose as much money.

Deutsche bank lost some 6 billion the other day. Macy's closing 125 stores this year... there are already signs the recession is starting. I put some money into gold mutual funds, as it will help protect my retirement if the dollar collapses.

Economies go up. Economies go Down. Then they go up again. Then they go down. It’s what they do.

True, but what is the Fed going to do when rates are already at zero? Negative interest rates like Europe? The housing market is only up so high because the rates are so low. I am very worried we are truly entering into a crash as bad as the Great Recession. They are going to print a shitload of money to try to save the economy, but all that's going to do is devalue the dollar like we've never seen.

so if the economy did dip between now and November, what would Trump’s excuse be? Hasn’t that been perhaps his biggest claim to success?

I think that is the X factor. If the numbers remain good, DJT wins easily; if they drop off, he probably loses to whichever neo-socialist knot head you all nominate. To quote Will Ferrell in Step Brothers: "It's a waiting game right now. We won't know."

Well, there is a chance that the market could crash after a democrat is elected. Just have to wait and see. The economy problems are far beyond the left vs right though.

Agreed. History indicates that a correction must happen. The only question is when and how bad.

So the deficit peacocks in the GOP finally throw in the towel on importance of deficits and debt on the overall economy? Or is this just another data point which exposes that these people hold Party over Country?

I am not retiring in the next year so it doesnt do me any good.

It actually makes it harder for me to invest money that will get a good return by the time I need it for retirement in 18 years.

Not to mention that the bill for all this theft will come due eventually. Trump has robbed from all of our futures to fatter his pockets and the pockets of those he wants to impress. This faux inflated "great economy" like everything else involved with Trump, an illusion held together by con men, terrified GOP congressional members and a whole lot of hair spray.

The farm bailout is now twice what the bank bailout was when the economy collapsed under W. Sounds to me like the biggest neo-socialist knot head right now is Trump.

I don't have a good alternative for farm bailouts. If you let all of the family farms die out, prices for food will go through the roof and people will complain about that. We definitely need to scale back the bailouts, as technology has eliminated the need for as many family farms as we have traditionally had, but as long as we continue to import commodities that can (and should) be grown in the US, we will continue to have these issues.

You do remember that the farm bailouts are necessary not because of prices in the actual farming market but because Trump's absurd tariff battle between the US and China has added completely unnecessary additional costs.

How about our dumbfuck President address the hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs necessitating these bribe payments to farmers to keep them voting GOP?

Trump isnt doing any of this for the greater good of society. It is purely to purchase votes.
