This dude was a sheriff from a couple counties over. Nice guy, though he was quite eager to show off his tactical maneuvers, and his weapons, even though nobody asked to see them. I mostly tried to keep the conversation about fishing.

I figure it's probably not at all unusual for a current or former Sheriff/State Trooper to not be a fan of local police.

My guess is Plano means it's easier to become a local police officer than many of the other types of law enforcement and therefor easier for incompetent/unfit people to be in the job?

My brother in law was a local police officer for a handful of years before he was hired by the ATF.

No. Never been shot by 1. So by your logic (if I'm reading between the lines of your previous comment correctly) that means I should judge all of them by my singular individual experience...and that would mean the whole of local police are tolerable.
