Where's the petri dish thread?
Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
What did he say, exactly?
Go ahead.
Let it all out.
Also, community-spread case in Chicago.

you gonna argue semantics?
please, do tell us what he really meant

Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
So, Trump today basically said that anyone who dies from coronavirus was probably going to die anyway

It's not semantics.
You just need to read sources other than NBC News, which is part of the problem.
Again, I ask: what did he say?

Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
I can turn this "political" really quick.
Innocent people are contracting a virus in the USA, a few are dying, and the country goes in to panic mode. What can we do it about? We must do something! It's an emergency!
Meanwhile, people have guns, innocent people are getting shot and killed, and it's nothing more than just status quo in the USA. What can we do about it? We needn't do anything! Who the fuck cares?
Or for those who don't like the gun reference - choose whatever you would like and take the same attitude.
I have a lot of "child please" attitude in terms of the Coronavirus and in terms of how some/many people in this country are reacting.
Not to minimize the virus but I feel it's being maximized (for whatever purpose/s people choose - some legit and some not) when there are other things that could (and should?) take precedence. Or at least not be ignored.
Attack away kids.

I’m curious where you’re trying to go with this one.DCHawk1 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 29, 2020 10:49 pmAre you fucking kidding?TraditionKU wrote: ↑Sat Feb 29, 2020 10:03 pm “this is their [the dems’] new hoax”

I'm curious to find out what he said.
Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
I guess this?
Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
and the vid cuts short but Trump goes on to clarify it’s republican party that is so unified, not the country.
Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
i haven’t found any transcript, but every news outlet i’ve seen has that quote
i believe where DC is going with this is n what he meant, hence my comment about semantics
trump may have been referencing the comments by some dems (and pubs too, unless i’m mistakes) that not enough was, or really has been done...that’s the hoax
but that’s not why i made my original post with the link...that was in response to DC’s comment about politicizing this whole thing. until this morning, i hadn’t seen anybody worth noting (other than trump) trying to politicize this...but i’ll admit to not really looking either. bloomy just came out with an ad with this as the focus, but i haven’t seen any other candidates do such a thing, yet

Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
It's good to know that that is the only issue with the virus.
Now, 72 cases confirmed in US.

Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
maybe if trump was articulate, and spoke in complete sentences, there wouldn’t be such “confusion”
(not in response to you, defix)

Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
and by most accounts, trump (and the state department and hhs) hasn’t done enough, starting long before this outbreak by handcuffing our ability to respond swiftly and efficiently in such circumstances...from either get rid of or not filling crucial posts, to drastically cutting funding to the cdc and nih
Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
Well as long as there is no issue with the potus throwing around the “hoax” term in a discussion about pandemics, cuz it’s just a matter of context.
Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
Wait, who could possibly be confused by a rambling speech intertwining a virus outbreak, Iowa caucus results, Russian campaign interference, an impeachment trial (over a perfect conversation btw), and the context of the word “hoax?”TraditionKU wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2020 11:58 am maybe if trump was articulate, and spoke in complete sentences, there wouldn’t be such “confusion”

btw remember to text Trump to 88022
Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
This is EXACTLY the problem.
Trump is corrupt and is corrupting the coronavirus politically.
But so is NBCNews...and so is "every news outlet trad has seen."
This SHOULDN'T be a partisan issue. It shouldn't even be a political issue.
But once again, I know how every person on this board is going to feel about this, about the government's response, about EVERYTHING, because we, as a society, are so fucking obsessed with and broken by politics that it's impossible for most people even to try to see beyond it.
Fucking Nobelprizewinningjagoff Paul Krugman literally cheering as the Dow crashed this week is case in point.
Sooooooo fucking broken.

And you know it.
But, you know, as Defix's roommate might have put it, "Party uber alles."
